In game Bounties and Notepads

Recommended Posts

One thing that might make pvp more fun is if there were bounty boards like in Ultima Online. There would have to be someway to prove that you ended whomever's reign of terror, in UO that was done by bringing the head of the wanted individual. You could just make an extra loot item on player's corpses, whether it is heads, dog tags, or whatever.

A handful of bounty boards spread out around the major towns would make for pretty good camping spots though. Another thing that would be cool is if there were a notepad in game, so you could stick your bounty request to some random tree along the road. Also it would be cool the be able to leave a note thanking the owner of the random tent you just looted.

I guess the notes and bounty boards would have to be server specific things, but if you make the proof of kill a loot item you could hunt bounties across servers.

I am against an in game bounty board if killing someone automatically puts you on it. But if there was a globally editable board, that players could all write on and share information and locations, I would support the shit out of that. I think server admins should have the write to ban/edit all information on the board though. I don't like the idea of the boards being spammed with 8===D for 90 lines.

Since every other bandit is after the other persons life we already have a bounty system running...No reward except the kill ( and loot ).

hmm, this sorta thing has been suggested before. What i do like the idea of is dogtags (i know its a little like BF but still) or something you can take off players when you kill them. More fun for the bandits maybe, but when you kill a bandit you might get something a bit more exclusive. Won't really effect the overall game, just be a nice touch.

That's exactly what I'm talking about

here is a link that will show what I mean, except it would be player run.

I think rather than bounties it should be a case that as soon as any bandit for 5 or more murders it would make a bunch of WANTED posters showing the name of the killer and the location of their last kill. nothing more, nothing less. Don't need a bounty because their loot is the bounty.

This doesnt serve as a deterant or blow to banditry, since a decent bandit would simply keep on the move and all that is on the poster is the city they last killed someone in. it would be more of a pride thing and a "Don't come to this city unless you feel lucky" thing. it would also make sense if the wanted posters also only spawned in the general area of the last killing

The wanted poster thing is an interesting idea. One thing about bounties is that it can possibly increase player interaction.

Hmm I am all for bounty boards but there is one problem. The only way to identify a person is by studying their body when they are dead ( unless you play on a regular server with CH : 1 ) So essentially, what you get is a group of bounty hunters wiping the entire map, killing everyone on sight, just so they could get one guy who has a bounty on his head.

I guess that begs another question, should the dead player be notified of who killed him?

One thing you could do is prompt the player on respawn if they want to post a bounty, and add the reward, where they were killed, etc. They would only see the name of their killer after submitting the bounty.
