MrTamarian 9 Posted July 25, 2012 Last night me and another dude decided to loot Elektro as he was running low on blood, we checked all the buildings, we are HEAVILY armed and all of a sudden we see three people headed right for us, they see us and we see them, they yell friendly and we don't intervene. They were heavily armed aswell and it could have easily turned into a blood bath but both parts decided not to be a fucking douche, and we moved on, we weren't followed or anything. So everyone that keeps saying that every single player is hostile is fucking wrong, you don't need to be ultra hostile to succeed in DayZ, contrary to popular belief.

Deuzerre 64 Posted July 25, 2012 Group encounters can turn into bloodbaths if one of the sides totally surprises the other, though most of the time they know it'll be a 50/50 with too many deads and the few survivors having to defend the bodies of their buddies, while both teams rush back to loot their own corpses.Group VS a single target it's death for the single target: Not taking any chances of losing a buddy against a random. C4SINO (DayZ) 20 Posted July 25, 2012 Me and my friend were in a shed at night, we went outside and got attacked by zombies and ran back inside and locked the door, but in the chaos a random player snuck in. There was a standoff, he stated at us and we stated at him...but no one fired. Then the zombies opened the door and attacked, all three of us started shooting shoulder to shoulder until all zombies were dead, sounds like a good story right? 2 seconds later he shot us both in the head as we had our backs turned.Another story was when two people asked me to raid balota airport after I helped from zombie attacks. We searched the hangars, then moved to the top of the tower where they trapped me and cut me down with hatchets.I was once willing to trust people but now I trust no one except my friends. I play friendly and I think you sound like a tool for saying that.I never said that people who play differently are douchebags, I just think people who just shoot on sight are douchebags. There are several other ways to play and I have no problem with that. Edited July 25, 2012 by MrTamarian
C4SINO (DayZ) 20 Posted July 25, 2012 I don't have my eyes on them all the time, I have my scope on them the entire time until they drop...I'll only trust them once their heart stops beating

Bottlerocket 205 Posted July 25, 2012 I'm friendly and have a 'no first use' of weapons policy. I've died to other players, true, but not as often as you would think. Most are easy to avoid. The other day I met a new player in the forest near Cherno armed with only an axe. I gave him a shotgun .... And together we raided Baolota and the military tents until he could replace it with a machine gun. Then I showed him where the aprtments were in Cherno so he could get some more loot, and we parted company. One of my best days in DayZ, I may add.
C4SINO (DayZ) 20 Posted July 25, 2012 I've killed two people, both in self-defense, if I see someone I flee, wether they see me or not, if they chase me, I'll ambush them
Glycerine 2 Posted July 25, 2012 The shooting on sight way of playing is a disease. It is, but it is also a way to play that is different from mine. It makes my way of playing far more interesting. Without kill on sight players I wouldn't have people to save.
Swineflew 480 Posted July 25, 2012 I normally play shoot on sight, but when someone speaks on voice chat I let them go usually, although I warn them that if they point their gun at me I WILL fire quickly.Voice chat can tend to make it "more real" for me. It goes both ways and actually makes it more exciting and frustrating in a good way. You have the friendly survivors that are trying to pretty much build some sort of colony and put there crap somewhere safe for a possible future battle and you got the bandit/s on the out skirts of town that are too lazy to loot for themselves and avoid danger at any costs so they take the easy way out and kill for what they want. Can you honestly say this isnt a possibility in a real life scenario if this were to happen?Think of natural disaster like tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc..,. what happens? families and communities stick together through the tough times and eventually get the help they need and criminals will loot anything on site after the disaster because its the easy way to get what they want.
