hkurban 31 Posted July 25, 2012 If you prepare in any way for the coming of a bug in order to maximize its beneficial effects upon you, you are technically abusing the bug. However, I consider ammunition to actually be the lightest offense of the pledge. In fact I may remove it, because it pales in comparison to how bad disconnecting from potential death is.Which is why its one of the only ones I do. And at this point I rarely do. I've got more ammo than I need at this point, and I probably would still have plenty even if i hadn't done this. I have no problem admitting it because all the ammo in the world hardly makes a difference when encountering players. Most of the fights I've been in have never lasted longer than a minute, and if someone gets the jump on me, then there's nothing I can do but try to fight back. Exploits that dampen another player's experience like combat logging, ghosting, etc, don't even cross my mind.
Max Railgrave 78 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) Unlucky because the new update has removed respawns.Fraggle, I think what he actually meant was "I don't abuse disconnecting, because I have more fun dying and playing legitimately than power-leveling my character to become a demigod upon men." But I'm not sure. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, though.------This thread was a fun little experiment and was enlightening. I'm going to let it fall off the front page now, as it has served its purpose. Edited July 25, 2012 by Max Railgrave
jamesthebrit 16 Posted July 25, 2012 Yup, I am yet to dc to avoid anything, even hackers! But this was because I was so confused as to what happened I didnt think. I also forgot the majority of the playerbase shoot then ask questions later! :P Take for example a guy I snook up. He was equipped with only an axe, I had a rifle. I shout friendly, he turns round and hits what appears to be the air. Next thing I know I'm taking damage so I shoot him and we both die -_-
Deuzerre 64 Posted July 25, 2012 Signed before it existed. Can't believe the number of people that shoot you, wounding you, and when you go hide in a bush to bandage/eat meat, just stroll around because they think you DC'd.
Herr Robert 28 Posted July 25, 2012 I often disconnect to avoid death. Why? Because everyone else does it and I refuse to put myself at a disadvantage.

UndeadAura 0 Posted July 25, 2012 I only abort if i have to step away from the game for 10 minutes or more.Other then that, I tried server hoping once to avoid death, and on another occasion to loot farm.Really took the fun out of the game and I was bored with it for that day. nicraM 137 Posted July 25, 2012 [ONLY EXCEPTION] That I am only allowed to disconnect if a Hacker is posing extraordinary threat. That is the only time I have ever Aborted during a firefight. Even then, if the hacker isn't invisible and isn't using god mode, I will stay most times.I blew up a hackers car in Cherno a couple days ago with my FAL and then proceeded to go rape them. I didn't know they were hackers, but both had ghillie suits and one had an AKS (gold). That confirmed it. Of course, they were just spawning shit in (still hacking) and got what they had coming. Herr Robert 28 Posted July 25, 2012 And this is the problem with DayZ, my good people. To all, a good night. That's of course true. I don't think it's important whether it might be boring for the guy killing me, since he would likely just do the same thing in my situation. I have been deprived of good loot too many times because of players with high-end sniper rifles and other good weapons disconnecting, so I don't see a point to be a nice guy myself. The way I see it, it would just be a waste of time for me to play fair, die and then potentially spending hours getting the gear I want again, when everyone else will just continue to abuse the disconnecting exploit. There simply has to be a mechanic in place to force everyone to play fair.
Buick72 27 Posted July 25, 2012 I only Alt-F4 when i am being attacked by a hacker or a hacker is on the server.Same here. Too bad I was slow on the draw against the last one I ran into. Whenever I hear jets, or see someone carpet bombing a town, it's time to leave.
