Is it possible to have two characters?

Yup. That's the only way. You'll have to switch the accounts when you play (CD Key should update by itself... Should).

Search for Private Hive or somesuch in the filter. Its serves that aren't synced to the main hive so you can effectively have a new, alternate character that saves but doesn't interfere with your other character on the main hive.

I've been doing this for a couple of days. I'm not sure at all though if it breaks the ToS or if the servers are breaking rules by even existing? Does anyone know the deal on this? I'm really enjoying being able to improve myself without too much worry but not at the cost of a possible ban.

Fortunately, you'd still share the game files, so you don't technically have two copies of the game on one computer.

But if your, cough, brother does any scripting, you'd both get caught since you'd be sharing modded files.

It's a hassel to make two accounts/characters work on one computer. Husband and I tried to both have our characters on the better computer, but meh.

Plus, if you each had your own computer and copy, you could play together.

You don't NEED two steam accounts but it makes the setup easier. The only thing that needs to be done is the CD Key for the game in your registry needs to change. However you manage that is up to you. I personally have two registry files on my desktop that contain the CD Key. I just dbl click the one for the character I want to play before launching the game. If i want to switch chars, shut down game, dbl click the other registry key, launch game again.

I run two accounts. I switch beyween them using my keys saved on my desktop. One has become my mule for spare shit I dont leave in the truck and the other is my do whatever the hell I want toon.

I have two characters. One for my own adventures and the other one is always at our squad's rally point to be able to quickly gather with my group and go coop.

1. Bought another cd-key
   
2. Created registry exports for both cd-keys
   
   1. 
      
   2. I changed to the new cdkey using this tool
      
   3. Made a separate account in Windows
      
   4. I Apply cd-key reg files in relevant windows accounts

yeah its possible u need to use the key changer everytime.

its possible to have two characters in the same game using the key changer also and just alt tab between the two :P
