In response to the soon-to-be non existant respawn button...

I can't really tell if the positives outweigh the negatives at this point in time.

But like someone else said...why can't we kill ourselves?

If I have a firearm, why can't I unload it on myself?

In a real zombie apocalypse, things like this will happen.

Just make it a cool animation with plenty of brain fluids.

I think they are trying to make it so you can kill yourself with a gun. If it doesn't get added in right away, oh well, its alpha.

Oh, I see. Thank you for the information.

What they should do is...

Add "commit suicide" to the scroll menu for switching weapons.

That way, when you go to switch to your sidearm or back to your main, you can accidentally shoot yourself.

REALISM AT IT'S FINEST!!

Rocket wants to bring standalone DayZ asap. Until DayZ is a mod, there are no legal ussies with it's content. He can claim it usermade and wash his hands.

If he wants to make a standalone game, commercial project, with income and legal rights and copyrights, then he must go through PEGI and ESRB and all that rating stuff you know.

He removed suicide ability because he doesn't want this simple useless feature to delay the standalone game in any way. One critical shout from a politician, one article in a big newspaper and Dean Hall will be blamed for someones committing suicide after playing DayZ. This will end DayZ prematurely and noone wins.

Let's not take that risk, right?

P.S. This game is not entirely about acheiving utmost realism. It's about immersive gameplay. These are two very different concepts. Think about it.

I know about the realism part, and I was thinking about that when I wrote it. Incorrect of me.

I think a better idea would be to disable respawning for 20 minutes after spawning. This way you couldn't "spawm farm" until you got the location you wanted, and you could eventually kill yourself if you really wanted to.

if i break my leg in the mountains on a buggy rock i do not want to crawl back to a hospital, i would rather kill myself and start again.

In a real zombie apocalypse you wont respawn, so the decision to "suicide" is different.

Are you insane? That would make it very likely to kill oneself when trying to acess a tent, climbing a ladder, using a vehicle or something simular.

I don't get this logic. You can't put suicide in a game in case someone is so mentally unstable it leads them to copy it, but you can have killing other people in the game when the same mentally unstable people could be influenced by that instead.

Respawn is just an easy way out, man up and get your shit together.

Does it sound bold or fun to have broken legs, no morphine, and the nearest hospital is located a dozen miles away?
