UbiquitousBadGuy 846 Posted May 21, 2012 One thing I'm seeing a lot in games is the improvisation of stealth kills through conventional materials (The Walking Dead game and Max Payne 3 come to immediately to mind). These scenarios usually have the hero modifying their weapon into a quick-and-dirty suppressed weapon that is not ideal in the situation but functional enough to quietly dispatch a few enemies.So what I'm suggesting here is that the game add a few more trash items like plastic bottles, rags, and tape, that can be assembled into a makeshift suppressor ideal for pistols, notably the makorov.It would reduce the noise generated by the gun making it more effective against dispatching a Zed without drawing aggro from the rest of them but would be extremely limited to how many times it could be used. Let's say...3 times, as an arbitrary limit.This is something I feel has potential as it adds a simple crafting mechanic that gives players some flexibility in engaging zombies while given them more motivation to pick up random materials. It could be balanced by making the bottle-suppressor only usable X amount of times, have severely reduced accuracy/stopping power, or controlling rarity of the materials.To be clear, I only suggest this as something that could be applied to pistols, even if only the Makorov, but I think it's a system that could be balanced well and introduce more flavor to the game.What does everyone think? Bo0G 7 Posted June 29, 2012 Yes!I want to decapitate a zombie outside of town with my hatchet, stick my m1911 in his mouth and enter the town using his head as a supressor!(Or at least put that scenario into a cutscene)Edit: That scene was so cool in Max Payne but I totally forgot about it because it only lasted like 30 seconds for me, then I was going loud again. Duckman404 37 Posted June 29, 2012 Oil can suppressors are the only thing I can think of that'd make a pistol about as quiet as a normally suppressed pistol. It'd work well with rifles, too, to muffle the initial BANG of them, but you wouldn't get rid of the supersonic crack. They also work for a good few rounds, perhaps as many as 50 or 100 depending on the pistol. The Makarov and M1911 would both work nicely, the M9 and PDW would have the supersonic crack unless using SD rounds, and the Revolver would not be able to be suppressed.I like this idea, but I think it should require the Toolkit to do.
