Servers pitch black

It seems like after patch 1.7.2.3 every server is pitch black, and I know this is a game of realism supposedly but come one. I live near country side not a lot of lights and wtf It isn't so dark i cant see my hands in front of my face. even when the moon is covered by clouds its still pretty visible. Even if I was to turn up gama and brightness it doesn't do anything. I know im going to get a lot of use your flashlight, but thats fucking just as stupid as how unrealistically dark it is. the minute I turn on my flash light like 150 gunshots will strike me down. I think the darkness needs to be a little more realistic or you need to be able to hold a gun and a flashlight at the same time aside form only having two guns able to use flashlights

To the OP: This issue has already been discussed to death, buried, unburied, raised from the dead and banished. You will always find people who will tell you that you are a whining carebear, just want it easier for yourself or that "duh it's more realistic because there are no street lights". For people that actually know how it is at night in the woods and on the fields it's just a stupid annoyance and constant reminder that the internet is full of boons that never leave their basement.

Options -> increase gamma and luminosity

Options -> Turn on HDR

With HDR on and increased gamma you can see quite well even during a pitch-black night.

There's definetely a bug (Hurr durr) when it comes to darkness in this game. I was playing with a friend of mine, who had brought his computer over, I had heard him complaining about the darkness before and I just told him that it's meant to be like that. When I finally saw the game I realized he wasn't kidding. We were standing at the exact same spot and I could easily make out the horizon, the trees, the roads and the buildings etc. His game was just a gradient black all over (Pitch black). only thing you could make out was the tree tops on the horizon. We tried changing his settings around, but it didn't help.

So yeah. Darkness is fucked up.

If this game is all about the realism (lol) then the darkness (when it works) is way too dark. I personally don't give a shit. But I completely understand why some people are having issues with this.

As both of you don't have the same outcome on the same server, it's probably the HDR setting. Set it to max.

Yeah I realized I posted this in the wrong section sorry about that. Didn't catch it till now. Even when I turn up my gama and brightness with HDR on very high. Nothing changes its completely black, the ground, trees bushes and buildings are pitch black and the sky is like 2 shades lighter. So i can see the horizon and thats it. Its unplayable at night, so I'm forced to join servers in different timezones which makes the lag a bit more, but also is just annoying.

I agree, I have the same and it's odd, on some servers I can see well enough at night that I can get around.

On others I can turn my monitor off and not tell the difference, I've done a LOT of crawling around in fields at night and I've NEVER seen it as dark in real life as it is in game XD

Certainly a High priority bug imho, while it doesn't effect everyone all the time it does spoil a large part of the game.

Sure you can use Chem lights etc and your Torch but until you can use your Pistol in one hand with the torch in the other this is kind of pointless as once you get into an engagement you are blind again and you'll need an infinite supply of chem lights to travel any distance.

You should be able to navigate (albeit poorly) at night short of a new moon with Chemlights/flash lights being there when you need them to search or go indoors, not to go cross country....

I suspect most of those who shoot down people who raise the issue server hop to avoid night or are simply lucky enough not to have this issue (And of course the trolls)

Have a friend that i play DayZ with. Sometimes he comes over. I can see at night fine, but on his screen its completely blacked out.

Then after the sun rose today ..it was still dark as midnight for him. We both disconnected and reconnected incase there was a time sink issue..noppeee.

As for night..aids..

G17, Remington 870, and M4A3 CCO all have flashlights.

Just wish you could like..take the filter from a Military Flashlight and put it on the light of the weapon so its not so damn bright.

I had the G17 but dropped it as the stopping power was non existant and you needed a mag per Zed! >_<
