I think I understand bandits

Recommended Posts

After a short visit to the debug plains I've respawned with full gear at Kamenka (DE287 I think, but not sure). I ran north, checking deer stands on the way, I noticed they were more empty than they should be, so I was careful. Ran to the hill S of Zelenogorsk, decided to watch the supermarket for a while with my M24. A minute went by, two, bang, zombies. I range the distance and there comes a guy. He aggroed one or two, shoots them, then sits in the supermarket looking through stuff. Then I notice it. He has an M14. The rifle I've been looking for for days. I follow him as he walks through the town. At some point he has a zombie in front of him and behind him. I shoot them both dead, knowing it's too far for the zombies to hear the report. He freezes and sits there, looking down the sight of the M14 scanning. 550 meters. I'm one click away from the M14. I watched him for 5 minutes, then went on my way, looking for a M14 of my own.

I don't really get it either, but I'm beginning to understand banditry, too. Thats because I'm really well equipped for the first time. I don't really gain anything useful from anywhere, so the only fun things to do now are looking for a vehicle, engage well armed players in the north, and kill as much Zs as possible. Right now I'm doing pretty much all three things simultaniously.

Cool story... bro?

Not sure what you're getting at here.

That it's more rewarding to actually find said weapons yourself through exploration than scumbag snipe a player because he found one.

He had a "how would I feel" moment the is rarely had in this game.

Much respect OP

I love how anti-bandit some of this community is, lol. Kudos to the OP for his "I'm better than the common riffraff" moment or whatever.

You do realize that said player wouldn't have hesitated for one second to kill the OP if given the opportunity, right?

I bet that guy OP let go went on to kill a good number of poorly armed people. OP could have saved countless lives but chose not to.

Almost sound superhero-ish. Might as well declare " I'm Batman" to him throws a smoke bomb and disappears. ;)

Dude! I had a smoke grenade and he was looking in my direction. I should have so done that.. I actually think he was a new spawn and got the M14 at a deer stand. First deer stand I found was completely empty, possibly there. Otherwise I expect he would pull out binocs to look at me, could be he saw me prone in front of a bush, at 550m that's possible although not certain.

Here is my story.

Played the game for 5 hours with my new char, I'm also new to the game.

Go into a barn and notice everything is being looted and thinking to myself someone is around here best keep it quiet and try to get out, as i leave the barn i notice on the hill above me someone pointing a gun, Now i think he was just covering himself encase i aimed at him since he didn't take the shot... That was until my automatic reaction was to aim at him in which point he took the shot and SHOT ME DOWN BANG BANG!!!! i fell into the rage, disappointment and confusion that is your first being murdered. After an hour of thinking i got back into game and am back at the point i am now, I still trust people i will never take the first shot and i can totally understand why he shot me even if he wasn't a bandit.

I will think twice before aiming at someone when they have the drop on me in future. I love this game haha

Nice :)

Yeah it's that he has what I want but do I really want to murder him for it moral quandry that is making this game slightly more than the sum of it's parts.

Any game that makes you really feel and think about stuff like that is ace ^_^.

But yes the Cynic in me tells me he likely wouldn't have returned the favour XD.

Even after a score of pointless death by players I still haven't got it in me to just gun someone down in cold blood but what I consider "threatening" is now verging on paranoia so bad I almost may as well be XD

Certainly anyone point a gun anywhere near me gets a blast to the face ^_^
