Is DayZCommander better than SixLauncher?

Recommended Posts

You guys will most like be like "What a noob doesn't even know what DayZ commander is" but I have only just come across it and I wanted to know if it's better than SixLauncher.

I'm asking nicely that you don't flame me or give me abuse just because I didn't know about it until now.

That's exactly what I'm like, saw some posts on reddit that it was updated, looks a lot more user friendly, gathers all server pings within 20-30 seconds "The owner claims".

Guess I'll give it a try.

I use both, I use six for updating and Commander for finding servers to play on as its easier on the eyes.

Without either I'd be fucked.

Never used Six launcher, but I've heard a lot of complaints about it. I'd say just try DZC for yourself. I personally like it a lot. The UI is great, much faster to join servers, and you can easily filter the server setting to get just the right server you want.

Only a matter of time before Commander will also update your DayZ files :). Its already doing the beta patches.

It's great. Even if you couldn't update the game files which you now can I would recommend it just for the Day/Night sort option. Now there are some problems with that but it's not Commanders fault. Some servers just have the wrong time on the name.

I like Commander, but it seems like the timestamps it gets from the servers is always wrong.

Look at the comment previous to yours.

Not entirely true unfortunately... for instance, my server (US 1220) is GMT -10, which is properly stated in the server title, currently server time is 8:20AM, and commander reports 5:20PM

[EDIT]I just did a little thinking and realized that the timezone where it is currently 5:20 would be GMT-1, so my assumption is that Commander looks at the title, then improperly parses out part of the timezone. My best guess is it's just set to grab one digit after gmt[+/-][/EDIT]

Just from a pure aesthetic standpoint Commander blows Six out of the water. The interface is a lot more cleaner and sleek than Six.

Definitely better than Six. Just the search options alone make it better. The ability to add friends, enable the Steam overlay, favorite servers...all features that every game should have.

I don't use either. I use the beta batch file to enter the game. I know, how archaic. heh.

But, I think commander is better overall, especially for the GUI. It is clean and user friendly. Now, as for 6updater. The only thing it excels at is letting you into the game when Gamespy decides to fuck everyone in the world and take their servers down cause they suck.

Why are we still using gamespy, again?

Sheesh!

I wanna cache the game list as well for when gamespy goes down.

I just find out the version number then type it in the server search of six launcher. Boom. Only those servers show. Works well for me and keeps the game updated.

I like commander better, but they both wreck my network for a short time after updating the server list.
