Gruelius 16 Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) It's is called Arma 2. If you want zombies as well there are plenty of community mods, there are even celery zombies which don't require any additional mods. People seem to forget that when they made there purchase of Arma 2: CO they were not just getting a platform to run DayZ, but a massive game in its own right with a large community and wide variety of other existing mods.i hear that but these players wont have the initative to do that, so setting up servers could work? just a suggestion anyway. its not so i can play DM, its so they can get what they want DM dayz, and the people taking it seriously can play on the real servers. You don't deathmatch on DayZ for the challenge or because you enjoy fighting others. If that was the case there are plenty of games with more intuitive noob friendly controls. They play because they like to fuck up peoples day. They don't want to face off against an equally well equipped player, they want to shoot an unsuspecting player from far away, because they enjoy ruining peoples day. If there was a server full of like minded people they would get bored/frustrated at there lack of skill, so go back to the easy pickings on the main server. enforcer1975 1111 Posted July 17, 2012 The next release of <generic shooter name> will solve this problem. Otherwise there never will be a way to entirely remove people who kill other characters just for fun. The only way would be to remove PVP or set some kind of duelling / PVP flags (WoW Style). But I'm sure this is not a good solution.I hope you are right...when will this likely happen?

Lukio (DayZ) 24 Posted July 18, 2012 But its just that i have such a good time interacting with survivors in cities, or having to thwart/deal with/die from REAL bandits/murderers (as above) and i feel its a shame that people who want to get their DM kicks rewen it.Let me give you a positive thought on the way. Eventually the people playing the game as "deathmatch" (not going into the definition here) will one by one come to the same conclusions like you and many others have, because DayZ per se isn't made to have a great deathmatch experience and once people see behind the curtains; some (not all unluckily) may be intrigued to go further. It will take time, but eventually it will work out. It has in other MMO style games with PvP and will as well in DayZ. Without rulesets or fixed factions to enforce it, this process just is very slow to move forward. DemonGroover 8836 Posted July 18, 2012 I'd rather see all of the people from Australia spawn on an island and be forced to swim to the main land. But we would be on the main land - you lot would be from "over there" :)
Rising (DayZ) 99 Posted July 18, 2012 I think the problem is that there is only one objective in DayZ at present, and that is survival. So when players are geared enough to achieve this objective easily, they naturally evolve into preventing other players from reaching that objective. I can think of two possible solutions to improve this situation:1.) Make the game harder. Like much harder. Make some zombies run 1.3x as fast so that even the most badass of the CoD deathmatch PKers would need to stop and finish off the zombie threat instead of focusing on murdering newbs. Make it possible for zombies to spawn right behind that tree or around that corner.2.) Make it possible so that players can work together and take over towns, and proceed to rebuild civilization. When it is possible to achieve a grand objective, players will focus more on the survival and cooperation aspect rather than mindless killing. There is NOTHING wrong with open PvP. My favorite mmo of all time remains UO. But when everyone turns to PvP at the endgame then the game does become deathmatch.
