Come on Rocket, You Were in the Air Force!

Recommended Posts

Okay, first off, don't get mad. DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. THE. WRONG. WAY. By all means, I understand and fully support the priority of connectivity issues, and small bugs. That always takes full priority. However, I would like to bring up how us fully developed groups (and I mean we have EVERYTHING) have NOTHING to do. This forces us to go to the coast and snipe fresh spawns, which makes us feel like dicks, and makes the newbs unhappy. I know the whole underground thing is very far into the future, so I have a suggestion to give us something to do. Fix Helicopters. Obviously you need to be pretty developed to own and operate one of these machines, so it would give us big groups something to fight over. With the connectivity getting better, I think this is a good idea. It just gives an extra "goal". Just something to distract us from the coast. I'm not saying it would be easy to fix the bugs in them and such, but I had one before they were disabled. I had it for 5 minutes, before it glitched out, and it was the greatest 5 DayZ minutes of my life. Just a suggestion (:

Supported.

Fix and re-introduce a variety of helicopters. Give us larger groups something to strive for.

I would like to see Icemotoboy working to get rid off the of the death-avoider via disconnect.

But Heli would be great to have too, sure.

i have to say, once you use choppers, dayz becomes small... maybe thats why have been taken out...

They were taken out because they were too buggy.

I'm not sure I follow how sniping newbies would eradicate the felling of stagnation?

Dickish behaviour doesn't change just because "you're bored"...it remains dickish behaviour. No-one forces you to do it but yourself.

All it does is prove those who have everything don't want any further progression. All they want is to dominate those who are still working their way up.

Not to say that heli's are a bad idea. I think it's a great idea to reintroduce them, but I can only see you getting the heli's...then getting bored of THAT once you've fixed up a few.

Take a brake, rather then being a random dick.

Or just respawn Day Z curently only really works/ is enjoyable when you have to fight tooth and nail to survive. Force yourself not to server hop/ disconnect. It it becomes a fantastic and brutal game again.

For my group, it's either not play, or kill people. We have EVERYTHING. Killing is entertaining. Not THAT entertaining, but there's currently nothing MORE entertaining. I never said it would keep us occupied for long, it would just buy time until they put some more advanced stuff in the game.

Right. So add one more thing so you can get that too and then have EVERYTHING again and then be bored again except now instead of driving down to the coast to harass newbies you will be able to fly there.

Sounds like a great plan.

I'm all for helicopters (when they're fixed), but they probably have better things to work on right now and if you and your buddies can't come up with anything better to spend your time on then I suggest taking a little time away from the game and returning when new mechanics have been implemented.

Ditto.

People play this like some sort of loot-collection meuporg where the only goal is to gear up and murder everything, then act all surprised when they run out of things to do after they've geared up and murdered everything. There's so much more to do in Day Z then hunt for better equipment. You have no excuse if you allow your gameplay motives to be limited to just loot, and you shouldn't be surprised when you run out of things to do when you inevitably get all the loot there is.

The best part about when large groups get helicopters is instead of having 3 man sniping teams covering cherno or elektro or some other area, you have a helicoptor with miniguns mowing down everything they come across bouncing from city to city raining hell down upon chernarus. Oh boy.

Its a good point the OP has raised. The aircraft side of this needs some work. I believe de-sync issues are to blame at the moment.

There are some things that would be interesting in here though..

MI-8, has 3 guns but is an unweildy beast and not a massive threat to ground troops. could be used to airlift vehicles?

AN2 is a small light aircraft designed for rugged airfields, slow and unarmed but would be alot of fun and can land on any field you like.

Maybe MV22 should be the rarest and most sought after aircraft, basically a plane but can land vertically in small camp clearings.

thoughts?

I am so sorry for you. The developers really should stop hacking into your computers and writing scripts that force you to play a certain way. /sarcasm

Helicopters should stay out of the game. IMO they don't fit the feel of the game at all. It takes you out of the survival mode, and lets you zoom around the map in a flying fortess while being immune to zombies and much safer from other players.

And as someone else said adding Helicopters will not cure you from your boredom. Within a day you will have your chopper up and running and be bored again. This will then force you to fly around the coast and big cities killing everyone you see with much more expediency than you did before.

If you are that bored because you have "everything" then here are a few ideas:

1) Put everything you have into tents and run all of them over, then drop the vehicles off in high traffic areas where other players (beside yourself) can easily find them, then respawn. Now you can get it all back while starting with nothing, this should be at least as much fun as it was the first time and give you something to do.

2) break into a few smaller groups and hunt eachother down with all of your phat lootz. This should prove much more entertaining than hunting down random poorly equipped players on the coast.

3) Play the good samaritan. Pack up a few czech or alice packs with gear and run along the coast. See how many new players you can help before getting killed.

Honestly 1 is the best option imo. It solves all of your stated problems. The only real reason you wouldn't want to do it is if all of your excuses are just that, excuses for doing what you really want to do anyway and a way of asking for a even more powerful weapon (choppers) to do it with.
