Since everyone on this earth talks in money these days let me just say: Why are you going to limit adminstrative powers on the servers they rent from you? Such as no password lock, only reason you can kick is racism or foul language, and this other nonsense of basically having no power just a title. Once I read these rules that were dictated too me; well I just laughed and said no. I would rather free ride as so many others do then actually host a server and recieve nothing for my efforts. If I have to do the work of managing my server and in return I get no kind of "fruits" for my labor; then I encourage everyone to free ride. I may be just one person but I wont be the only one. So thats $20-$40 you just lost from me monthly. And this is a game I foresaw playing for awhile. Lets see how many others feel the same and we will total your loss here.

Although not a monetary gain, hosting your own server does come with some unique perks.

• You can feel secure in that you have a server you and your friends can use as a home base, you know when it will be online or offline, up or down.
  
• You don't need to worry about an abusive admin, cause you are the admin.
  
• You are in a unique position to help new players get started and lead the community by example as a so called 'authority figure'.

First there is no such thing as a home base. this game is no longer coop as even stated in six updater. This game is everyman for himself.

Abusive admins? So what? Admins cant do anything anyway. you get kicked and banned you just go complain and have the admins lose there server and the money they put into it.

Your last statement is hogwash. you cant help new players because you learn quickly "TRUST NO ONE" We had a group of players join our TS that were just trying to get to know where our camp was so they could kill us and loot our shit.

Moosiph. Do what im doing. Dont rent anymore. Its quite clear there is NO true incentives to renting. dont give another cent to the server companys. Why pay for something they are providing for free? Heck you cant even name your server!

The perk you get is the very fact you become a server admin.

Things like not being able to put on passwords and such are there for a reason. If you lock your server, nothing stops you from freely looting every location on the map and using the gear on other servers.

Nobody's forcing you to host a server, if you don't like the rules - don't be a host.

In dayZ the zombies should be the enemy. DayZ is NOT Team vs Team. Its coop!

ONE TEAM WEST!! remember domination! ONE TEAM EAST!! Pick a side!

I know.. Heres a suggestion for rocket. maybe make domination Team vs team but only allow 1 bandit slot for every 10 slots server. Everything else is team killing and you get penalized for it.

That makes most sense to me.

The people who lock servers and make it so only their friends can join are not playing the game the way it was intended to be played. And since this is Rocket's game, he determines whether or not people should be allowed the privilege to play his game.

You paid for the game ARMA 2. You didn't pay for DayZ. You downloaded the MOD DayZ and are basically playtesting it since it's currently an ALPHA, with all its buggy glory. It's Rocket's mod, it's his baby, and you didn't pay for it, so lose that sense of entitlement.

I think admins should be allowed to password their servers. Any admin who does and don't invite more players to their server (think of it like minecraft servers with whitelists) is shooting themselves in the foot.

Nobody could possibly enjoy playing DayZ on their own in an empty server...

He's not limiting the game you paid for.

You paid for ArmA, that's all. DayZ is free and you didn't pay a single dollar for it. Feel free to host ArmA 2 on your server without DayZ.

DayZ is his creation, it's his copyright, if you want to host it, he decided what you can and cannot do with it, simple as that.

It's no more different than the EULA you skip on reading and just press "I agree" every time you install a game or a program, only that this mod comes for free.

Have fun. In Minecraft, your server and your inventory doesn't affect other servers. In DayZ it does.

SGT is correct, you didn't pay Rocket for anything. He created this in his spare time, and on his own dime. If you had directly given Rocket 50 bucks I'd be telling you something completely different, but you didn't pay him anything. You bought Arma 2. If you are unhappy with Arma 2 I suggest you take that up with BI. If you are unhappy with DayZ, you should either post your suggestions to try and make the game better, or find something else to do.

Sure, and all the free loot you could possibly want, gaining and unfair advantage over other players just because you can fork over a few bucks for a server.

You will never be allowed to pw lock your server for as long as it's connected to the hive. Deal with it.
