Mitcholas 0 Posted July 16, 2012 I must have been pretty lucky so far. Been to elektro multiple times with only a 1 time conflict (completely one sided, he had the store baited + barbed wire to cut off exit), and 0 conflicts the many times ive been to Stary Sober.IMO it's all about timing, and watching your surroundings. However, I can't deny the occasional sniper :\
Miragenz 71 Posted July 16, 2012 And check deer stands, lots of em out there with good chances of some nice loot, never been shot at stary however.
sticky 7 Posted July 16, 2012 #3 isn't always true, if I've only aggro'd one or two I'll head for the field/forest and away from the other zombies, then turn around and drop'em. Also it's worth noting that buildings with a single entrance don't leave you an exit strategy should the situation take a turn for the worst.

evulclown@gmail.com 191 Posted July 16, 2012 Plan your route so you won't have to moan that a sniper killed you. Clicking a waypoint on the map and then running over hills and open ground without considering high population spots, loot spots, potential survivors paths, sniper spots etc is not "planning a route". Bribase 251 Posted July 16, 2012 Keep two morphine shots on you, one in your pocket and one in your pack. More if you're in a squad. They spawn at military loot drops now so no need to brave the city.Raid deer stands from behind, infected tend to walk into open areas and away from woodland. You can sneak in easily if you approach from the ladder side. The new build means more chance of aggro but the new sound scheme means picking up less aggro and losing the ones you do aggro if you have to run. A good way to raid mid level loot drops like churches, large residences and supermarkets is to stealth as far as you can until you are aggroed and make your way at top speed to the choke point of your destination.Walk alongside roads, not on them. If the road has a hill on one side walk on the lower side, you'll cut LOS to you by 180 degrees and snipers will have a hard time zeroing their shots up a hill as opposed to on flat.Use discipline when you're selecting weapons. If you have to throw something make sure you switch back to your weapon immedeately. You don't want to be stuck in a throw animation while a Zed pounds the crap out of you.Learn whats available on the server because they vary, especially in terms of map use. Some servers allow waypoints to show on your HUD, some even show your position as a blue dot and arrow, for some servers a map is just a map and is useless without gps or a compass. Don't get used to waypoints either because they're bound to be edited out of the game entirely soon.
Malevolence 3 Posted July 16, 2012 Never been shot at in Stary but Im careful when I approach. I tend to watch the area for 10 to 15 minutes for activity before entering and when I do its always from the fastest direction to go in loot and go out the way I came in. Now Cherno and Elktro those are noob death traps. Personally I make runs along loot rich interior roads never stop long enough to engage someone and if i do I tend to beat it before they see me. Bandits have taken plenty of pot shots at me but running at a sprint zig zag through the forests is usually enough to get away. I have found many bandits to be lazy as shit preferring ambush tactics to active hunting. I would suggest always keep on the move never stay in a loot spot more than a few minutes and always scout your loot spot before hand. Best pro tip to live by is be paranoid and always assume a sniper has you in sights.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted July 16, 2012 My protip for newbies.Play at night - Zeds can be easily bypassed (crouch walk/run) and you should be able to get some good loot before you try in the daytime. Raided Cherno and Elektro pretty easily with recent Respawns before heading up to some deerstands for a better weapon.Use flares as a Zed distraction but be watchful of attracting players. Also, go on a server (Veteran) where the floating names over players are off - nothing worse than hiding from a player and he shoots you just because he accidently rolled his cursor over you.Just have fun - some of my best times have been in the first 30mins of Respawning where you have nothing to lose. The paranoia only really sets in once you have some good gear!
Deadcow 41 Posted July 16, 2012 I think the most unused feature is one of the best. Tin cans and whiskey bottles can be thrown to cause any zed in the immediate area to walk over and investigate the noise. This helps immensely when trying to stealth in to a barn, or some other structure when there are many zed blocking your route. This works well at night too and there is no light to alert potential bandits of your location. The harder the surface you throw the item at, the better the results, so try to hit a road if you can (no pun intended).

DOubt many peeps realise that not everyone shoots on sight, but they may not make their presence known either XDPersonally, take it slow, be observant, keep on the move XD

kozzy420 39 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) 1. Always keep atleast 2-3 morphene on you2. Dont be scared to hit up the cities when you first start off (as you dont have much to lose). I like Bolata and then Cherno for some medi supplies before I head up north3. Stay in the tree's and not in the open, snipers love people out in the fields.
