thoughts from a brand new player on how to make this more fun for new people

Recommended Posts

Too much carebear in this thread. Making the game easier is completely counter to surviving. If surviving was easy, it wouldn't be fun.

The "Endgame", as of right now, is to use one of your 8972465 weapons you have stashed, and go to cherno/electro and fuck people up. Because that's fun!...

So why don't you go play one of the 8973465 FPS games that only have PvP?

The human race does not have priorities. If we all had sane priorities we would work together to improve life for all.

Each individual human does however have priorities, self serving and often malignant. And look at how well this planet gets along!

Such is life, such is Day Z.

People are diseased with corrupt psychological genetics, and corrupt traits learned by the examples of thier peers and mentors.

I like the idea about a weapon that has limited uses before breaking.. maybe a large stick? pole? something relatively common that does minimal damage and breaks soon after first use.. not something you spawn with but something definitely not hard to find

that and converting knives into weapons

it would add variety

what about this is making the game easier?

I mean i understand the concern that "dem noobs tryna take meh gaym" but you have to be realistic.

Starting out without something to protect youself is a poor development decision if the only place you can find something to protect yourself is surrounded by zombies that are just as fast as you. This problem is magnified when you have players hunting you with full gear. A multitool that breaks over a short period wont break the game and there is simply no argument you can muster up against that. You can kill maybe 6-7 zombies before the blade breaks off and then you are defenseless like you so desperately want.

It would be one thing if items were more widespread in the world , but the limited enterable buildings make this impossible so the only way to implement items is by spreading things out by miles in the only buildings with working doors (which are spread out by miles and usually fully surrounded by zombies).

The "starting zones" im talking about are extremely small , the size of a tiny village and there are very few of them. This is on top of the fact that nearly all of them are by the coast. By having them all by the coast you can limit the items in that area to be low spec so the only way to get really good gear is to travel deep into the country side (ie pvp area where you can gank all the noobs you want)

There simply is no reason to torture a gamer because "teh realism" , thats moronic besides the fact that human beings are co-operative and the "social experiment" part of this game falls apart at the seams because nobody is really being threatened by death. In real life you would hug the first person you see in a prospective zombie apocolypse , not shoot them.

This game has too many cool ideas to be highjacked by elitist lamers who want the game to stay broken and undesirable for people to play after they have been ganked for the 500th time 5 minutes after spawning.

The only challenge to this game is when you first spawn. Take that away and there is nothing left besides hunting other players.

Why are you bumping your own thread? You should take the time to read what people have posted.

Thought about it and decided that PvE isn't something that could be put well in DayZ :/

But I think the random loot in the middle of nowhere would be nice it adds to the game... Looking for random loot makes you get lost ^^ leads to situations like "Oh crap, i'm out of food, now what do I do?" (or water)

Ofc, water bottles... knife, hatchet, and matches would make you set :/ but if you're far from water... idk I think it would add to the game.

You don't have fun as soon as you start. You have to learn how to sneak around and where to go and where not to go. After a few attempts you will be able to sneak past any zombie and after a while you will accumulate supplies and weapons. If you spawn and immediately go into a big city that is a dumb idea. It took me at least 20 re-spawns to understand how to survive. Also, hatchets are everywhere, if anything that should be the greatest 'newbie' starting tool. If you restrict PvP then what fun is that?! There are no PvP restrictions in zombie apocalypses!! So once you get your bearings and find a weapon and supplies then the fun will really start.

Good hunting!

Who made you the person who says what this game is about? and there would be no "loot spots" in these areas.

umm... deerstands don't count...

Umm... what game doesn't have a chat? -.-

I'm all for realistic qualities but I doubt this game portrays a real zombie apocalypse. And those who act all macho and say it's unreal if you add this... if you would think about it there would be some people who would try and fortify a safe haven somewhere, and if you don't see this than that is truly sad...

Read my earlier post... I don't want to go into a rant again.

why wouldnt deer stands count (havent found one so dont know)

Honestly, If you are killed, that is a learning experience.

When you die, there is someone behind that bullet. The person behind that bullet needs one of two things.

Your gear, or Kills.

The "Endgame", as of right now, is to use one of your 8972465 weapons you have stashed, and go to cherno/electro and fuck people up. Because that's fun! That's what happens.

As a new player, you will not be coddled. This is not a game. This is a test. Survive.

Your endgame is retarded.

There is no endgame, and if you want some thrilling experience, I suggest you begin hunting other squads, tents, and create ambushes.

If you haven't figured that out, you have no imagination, and that's sad.

Also, hunting freshly spawned players in Cherno / elektro while you're fully geared is for pussies.
