Real Life and DayZ

Recommended Posts

Anyone else getting Real life and DayZ Conflicts? The other day I was taking a road trip up near San Francisco. On the way there I saw a building very similar to the large building in the center of Cherno. ( the one with the two huge drums) and I almost called out to my girlfriend " hey its cherno" but i stopped my self mid sentence because she wouldht have got it. For a split second I really thought it was cherno. The same thing happened when I saw some cranes just before San Fran. Wanting to call out "electro!"

Now everytime I see a goat and cow i just wanna shoot and gut it. ( no not really but Now the remind me of dayz)

Anyone else share this or have stories similar?

No. I can never become immersed enough in the game's current state to feel that way.

Haha I live in the city, I haven't seen a goat or cow in years. I used to get this feeling all the tie when I was playing Skyrim or Oblivion and I would see a familliar plant of flower.

Caught it once or twice with DayZ, it does creep in.

Haha, no, I think you just enjoy it more than I do. Nothing wrong with that. I just get a bit bored at times, and the bugs don't help either.

I found myself running on the grass and then on the road in crouch mode to see what the real difference in sound is. Also my son can do a mean monkey zombie crawl.

A while back I had a dream where I was riding a mo-ped through my home city and there was this silent hill style transition that changed the city into pripyat (from the stalker games) and my mo-ped changed into me just super sprinting down the middle of the street while being chased by fog monsters that were actually just bloodsuckers.

I want to kill everyone on sight.

Does that count?

Well, I sometimes do, I was Just woken up via a zombie in bed next to me, groaning and moaning, then I really woke up via jumping outta bed and Picking up my crow bar (Burglar basher)

She then responded "do I snore that loud?"

Women, worse than Zeds!!

I have enjoyed eating more beans also.....

I beat down a person with my bare hands because I thought they were a zombie. Does that count?

Also, I eat beans out of a can on a regular basis.

The next time I see a headline of some school massacre shooting.... I guess I'd know who it is.... that's mistaking reality with DayZ.

Shaking strangers hands while saying friendly every single time...There's gotta be counseling for that.

But seriously. I see things that remind me of DayZ. No real life/DayZ conflicts though

I went into a convenience store and it had a sign "no backpacks inside" and I thought "damn, I really need a better backpack"

I was walking in a parking lot when I saw a small puddle of water. I instantly thought "I should fill-up my water bottle here." Then I realized what I had just thought.

I've had those moments as well.

You get it from playing this game too much! :D

I remember once, sitting in a restaurant with some people, and when we headed out, it started raining, and I was like "hey, finally its raining! Now I can find out if the update was true about, zombie detection range decrease in rain!" - and I were serious in my mind, until I realised it was real life.

You need a break from the game, take a week off, that will help =)

I was on the way to the grocery yesterday and I really thought about sneaking in near the buildings to avoid getting aggro or shot by others. Strange thing. And forests feel very safe now. (Should've taken a hatchet with me)

Heh...

Any game I play like this (LFD, Stalker) seems to cross over into real life and give me "hyper awareness" I play with triple montiors so notice things in the corner of my eye (Triple monitors is the awesome). When I am playing a lot, this spills over into real life and I am much more aware of my surroundings. I find myself keeping an eye on everything around me, planning routes while walking etc. It fades when I stop gaming for a few weeks. Damn useful though, I have avoided a few car accidents due to being "hyperaware".
