Headshot required to kill Zeds/Infected  

  1. 1. In order to kill a Zed/Infected you must get a headshot. (When pathing/zig zag gets fixed)

Many people complain about Zed/Infected being pushovers. I'm one of the people that think Zed/Infected need to have a bigger affect on our psyche. I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks.

IMO(In my opinion) Just make it so you have to headshot the zombies to kill them permanently. Solves a lot of issues with Zed/Infected being weak.

NOTE: I'm talking when the pathing gets fixed.

If you vote please post to keep the thread alive.

You could make them crawl or go slower by shooting them in the leg but only truly kill them with a shot to the head.

On the home page this is used so the whole realism argument with them not being zombies. Well just look at the picture.

They would have to make the "zombies" move really slow in this case, at how fast they run right now it'd be almost impossible to kill one if you had to get a headshot.

I only carry a makarov for zeds since headshots are really not that hard to do.

That and with the amount of bullets you can find for the makarov makes it one of the best zombie killing guns. I love the gun fr that reason and like you said, not hard to get headshots.

And even if it was easier: NO. They are not "Zombies". They aren't even defined yet.

Not with the current speed and insanity they move with. You would basically have to either kill them before they see you or sit there and wait for them to stop moving and punch you in the face.

So you're telling me I have to kill the zombies in buildings now just because I have to headshot them? No thank you. I believe Rocket even said these are more like infected beings, not zombies.

Hell no

The argument that they are so fast because they are infected, not zombies, also explains why they die from bodyshots

Their body is still active, hit a vital organ and they die like anyone else

In a perfect world where it was technically feasible, there would be slow zombies, and there would x10 of them.

Unfortunately not everyone has a computer that can run this smoothly, let alone server side.

It's a no from me, simply because of this reason.

For the time being we have infected humans, which are still alive. So body will kill them.

It would be SUCH a pain in the ass, and make the zombies SO much harder to kill... I like this idea. :) (honest I want this to happen)

or perhaps make a super hard core server where you can only kill zombies with head shots.

These aren't zombies, they are humans who are alive. They have blood flowing through their veins. Besides, in a realistic sense, zombies that only die to head trauma would never exist since once you damage the heart, they won't be going anywhere anyways.

Never wanted this to be realistic. Thinking of pure gameplay and this is a way to make the Zed/Infected harder to kill and more feared.

Wow, people are really finding it that hard to find a building and just headshot zombies as they walk in? Also, not hard to walk up a steep hill, turn around and shoot, what idiot would just stop running from a zed chase and just shoot?

So now you're telling me how I am killing the "zombies?" I kill the zombies whichever chances I get, if it's a building most likely I flee it through a back entrance and lose them. Sometimes I turn around and pop them with my 1911. I don't always use a building to kill them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but infected people and "zombies" are totally different, correct? Infected people are still partially alive, just sick with a virus so can still be killed in any way. Zombies are dead, but brought back "alive."

You'd HAVE to kill them in a building if this were to happen which just wouldn't make much sense.

I used to only use the term "infected", but the in-game debug window clearly refers to them as "zombies". Either way I don't see any point in the crossbow if you can only kill with headshots, you'll at best down a couple of them and never get your bolts back.

This isn't The Walking Dead game.. that's coming from Activision soon. DayZ has infected not zombies. So no.. Center mass is an accepptable killzone as well as the head.

Try playing some of the OA User Missions that feature headshot-only gameplay, such as Chernarus Apocalypse or Dynamic Zombie Sandbox. While headshots-only certainly is more hardcore, it's difficult to headshot solely because of ArmA2's engine, not to mention the absolutely absurd animations that zombies in DayZ use. I'm all for a hardcore gaming environment, but if this were to be implemented at all it should only apply on the more hardcore-gaming servers.

Sorry I should have worded it "Thats how you kill zombies MOST of the time anyway" Strategically this is what the majority of people do, use buildings.

I do not care about realism, I care about gameplay.
