Worried about DayZ's future, let's discuss.

it seems only the most ignorant and uncreative people are always the most motivated to start new threads..........

I'm certain you have solid reasons to think I'm ignorant and "uncreative". (How is my creativity even relevant?)

Rocket is a good, creative guy, and he listens to bug reports and suggestions. That is a part of why I like the game. You won't find such support in any mmo.

But for now the main problem is bugs. Every new update needs a lot of fixes (1.7.1 needed five).

Thats why the dev is slow - there is no time to bring on features - only enough for bug fixing. I dunno why there are such lots of bugs. Duping, killer doors, texture bugs, spawns, loading bug... Damn, not all people want to wait - they don't understand the word alpha.

The bugs should all be dead till beta, or public will go away.

IMO, rocket should stop tweaking infected, balance weapons etc. for a while. Leave it all like in 1.7.1.5 - stable and not buggy.

Iron the fuck out the fatal bugs in 1.7.3. Get the old bugs breaking every new update gone, and then add new stuff. Better for everyone.

I think we can agree on the fact that the mod is currently somewhat hard enough, making it even harder would be uncalled for IMO. (While it's not hard to survive per say, the mod is very punishing when mistakes are made and I think it's fine this way.)

Once a player learns what to avoid doing and learns to recover from mistakes, like pulling too many zombies when trying to loot a town, the game becomes much too easy. Players become the only real threat and in turn become the only goal of the game. Exploring the map is awesome if you never played ARMA2 but some people crave more excitement than that. Vehicles and camps are great things to search for but the odds of finding them are slim so a lot of people don't bother.

I hope Rocket increases the difficulty the further inland you get. I'd rather the game was as hard on experienced players inland as it is on noobies on the coast. Once you have a Winchester and 3-5 ammo the zombies become nothing but a nuisance to your ears. Maybe they'll address this lack of goal and northern area difficulty further down the development cycle.

(btw, before anyone complains, there are goals in the game and gearing up is one of them but many people turn around and head south to kill noobs because they have nothing else to do and choose to go on a murderous rampage rather than stand around in a field looking at a cow)

That's because it is too huge for one man to handle. If the testing group was smaller they could report the bugs in a precise manner, also I'm pretty sure people included in closed alphas behave properly in the testing phase. But what about this project? It's absolute chaos. I hope rocket has the strings in his hands and won't lose sight of his original goals in the middle of all this. Also, have you even read rockets posts on the subject? The development works like this: he adds something, and multiple new bugs pop up. He fixes something, and new bugs pop up. I doubt he can just "fix everything" and then continue developing, as that would just make new bugs come up and then people would again be pissed off. I would say to rocket: don't listen to us on anything else than well thought out and precisely delivered content suggestions, and keep doing what you have been doing.

This thread is simply not worthy of reading,my opinion.

I only wanted to say that I believe it's future is well secure, more player will come and it will prosper more vigorously.

This kind of thread is ......

No need to quote my reply.

This game is the fucking nuts and the less rules they impose on gameplay and the harder they make the zombies to deal with, the better, yes tougher to deal with than they are now. The only critique i could offer is some attention to server switching and pvp disconnects.

The fact that each update breaks the game more then fixes it, and popular requests go ignored makes me think that possible Rocket / one man can't develop this Mod now on their own.

It will flutter and die then come back as a standalone, where Bohima's reputation for making fantastic yet broken games will earn it middling to highsih reviews and it will be relativly ignored by the large majority as the novelty has worn off and other studios have made robust literations (if not as brave) by that time.

I really hope not, really want it to be properly sucsesfull, I really hope they manage to pull it off.

But mostly I really want the damn thiing to be playable.

Absolutely.

As we all know, the sign of a truly visionary game designer is one who does whatever the most people shout in his face without question.

:@

Do you think it's a coincidence that almost every great accomplishment in history was made by someone who ignored popular requests?

I love how every single post made by a certain person on this forum are edited so they can maintain thier angry grammatic superiority. Yeah should prolly remain indoors as your social skills are horrible.

I didn't know the use of correct grammar was something you could have an inferiority complex over.

I guess this is where I'm supposed to apologize for trying to treat my native tongue with a modicum of respect.

I'm sorry?

As for my social skills, I don't really need them anymore. My wife and kids like me just fine, and I could do without pretty much everyone else on the planet.

But here's the matter:

Aren't people getting too hyped up about a mod which will in the end only be satisfying for a rather niche audience as it was probably meant to be from the beginning?

Didn't all this hype bring the wrong people here and won't it generate undeserved anger amongst the casual gamer community towards DayZ which will in the end disappoint them?

Isn't such a project as DayZ bound to disappoint because it's been fantasized over so much?

The majority of this hype has been community generated. This coupled with the rising player numbers is proof that it's not a niche game. It's just something kind of new and refreshing.

Personally this game style is something I've been waiting for quite a while.
