Astalonte 48 Posted June 8 (edited) /Rage on Recently inside the "community" there has been a uproar about a announced change in zombies difficulties. In my opinion it was awesome because it add some more layers of difficulties to the game. They changed again a week ago.Well..., what happened? Rolled back? Hell no! they made the zombies even easier than in 1.24. They are dumb as fuck now with no issue to sneak or lose them. Why they had to listen and cater to the most casual part of the community? This game CANNOT be changed according to that people. It was awesome a week ago now we have dumb version of a survival game. Dayz hast to be harsh. It s part of his core I do understand people complained after 1.25. I did not agree but ok. So they changed to 1.24? not. They went all the waaaay down to a much much easier AI zombie than in 1.24. Why they did not leave it as it was in 1.24?. As it is now zombies lose your aggro after around 20 sec crouching. They dont aggro add in towns as it used to be in 1.24 and they dont see you (I would say the range is waaay smaller that in 1.24). The result is a very arcade experience with little challenge. This right now is affecting core mechanics in the game. Get a grip people! I hope the devs stop catering to people who play this game like a shooter and cannot improve in basic dayz skills. Sorry If I sound a little bit harsh but it s stupid being the game that I love to see this happening. I m 3k hour in and it s my favourite game. /Rage off Edited June 8 by Astalonte
nemorus 257 Posted June 8 Well, they have stats and these say that most servers are vanilla or vanilla plus game. "DayZ" truly shine as a survival game with - at the very least - vanilla minus setup - or better hardcore, with 30 npcs in every town (any more and animations/sounds getting glitched). It's only normal that majority gets attention even when there are also a lot of people into hardcore - but we have mods to cater that need.
Derleth 1357 Posted June 8 I don't think there has been any updates actually, depending on where you look the ragefest over zeds is still going on. It seems to me experience of harder or easier zeds is more a case of poor server performance affecting infected behavior more than in the past, making official servers particularly bad since they are multiple instances running on potato machines... On servers with good performance zeds work perfectly fine - or better than in 1.24.
Riddick_2K 174 Posted June 8 (edited) @Astalone Given that I haven't yet fully verified what has changed with 1.25 (I don't have much time to play lately...), but regardless, in my opinion... to have a game that is more... "likely" to a situation like that of the game (pandemic of infected people), the infected should be actually stupider (they have damaged brains) but more dangerous and above all very deadly (they are, in fact, infected and should plague all those attacked). Rather, in my opinion, they should go back to killing the player, like they used to... and infecting him well with every scratch... to be treated immediately, not just bandaged! Points of view... everyone has the right to have their say, whether they have 50 hours of play or 5000... No?!? P.S. I have almost 5000 hours of play with my 2 accounts, a personal Vanilla server (which I learned to manage and modify since 2020) and a modded one (now offline due to my RL problems) but I don't think I'm "more right than you" JUST because I have "more hours of gaming than you"... that's "children's" talk. 🙄 Edited June 8 by Riddick_2K

I agree with you 100% though
DefectiveWater 533 Posted June 9 I've played for a short bit yesterday and I haven't noticed any changes since the initial 1.25 release.
faltodeimaginacion 3 Posted June 10 IMO is bullshit. I love that the zombie difficultie go higher but this have no sense. They hear you from kilometres of distance... And the bug that you now can be trapped on them...
Pyongo Bongo 235 Posted June 10 (edited) I have not really noticed a real increase in difficulty while doing my usual zombie techniques. Lock em in, jump on cars and beat them without resistance, silently or loudly headshot them with cheap calibers like .22 or .380. This may be because I have many hours in the game and have dealt with literally thousands, maybe ten thousands of zombies. Newer players may notice more difficult zombies more. I did notice that they sometimes spawn infront of my eyes now like they are being beamed into existence. Edited June 10 by Pyongo Bongo
Waldemard 6 Posted June 10 The problem isn't about the difficulty but the common sense, now zombies will hear you or see throught walls while you are crouching on the second floor at 1 bar noise, they also will usually hear you most of the time when you will try to get stealth kills, once one is alerted most of them will come and even more will aggro from the surrounding. Not that I don't like the feature but the real problem is about the zombies being as broken as they are, they glitch and can go throuht walls, doors, will stuck you inside the walls, will teleport on the rooftop, will hit you from behind, will run like headless chicken before comming back to hit you from their own back, they are also broken on the pathfinding side, going from one side of the door to the other one again and again, jumping the same fence many times in a row, will aggro you even if you are laying in the bushes or grass while they were originally aggroed by someone else, or some shots from far away. None of this makes sense and ruin as much the gameplay as the coherence and the immersion. What we need is a real organic increase in the difficulty because of their behavior, not something artificial to balance a bad behavior/coding. To be honest the ones we had before this patch were good enought and did not really needed any change waiting for a real rework, now most of the encounters feels weird and unnatural.

The worse is the way they hear you now...
Riddick_2K 174 Posted June 13 (edited) I managed to play a little a few days ago and... it also seems to me that they see more and hear a lot more. I haven't tried many times but I can no longer surprise them from behind while walking crouched even in the rain, which used to work well, now it's impossible... but I repeat that I've tried a few times, maybe it was a temporary connection fault with the server ( I'm talking about the official vanilla ones, obviously). I don't know... I don't see it as something "grave", but a stupidity like many others... they seem more like "changes made at random" (or by mistake). I remain convinced that they should be more stupid, and see and hear like BEFORE 1.25... but they should go back to killing (like they used to) and with every scratch they should be plagued with infections... which if you disinfect and bandage IMMEDIATELY , okay. Otherwise you would have to get some serious illness and have a few hours to find medicine or you die... it's a pandemic of infected people, not a "Boy Scout trip". My 5 cents. boggle 48 Posted June 17 I've noticed a huge change for the worst since 1.25 Crouch walked 10ft from a zombie in running shoes, at night, spotted me. They also seem to see through walls again like early access, and I've had them glitch through doors a few times too recently. They are more aware in all of the wrong ways. I can 100% out of sight in a house laying on the floor, and they agro. It's basically not worth risking an attempt to stealth kill anymore. You might as well just go loud, which means they aren't even a threat at that point and are a pointless feature in the game. So they ought to fix their hyper awareness through walls, or just remove them from the game.

I've tested the AI behaviour in a similar way, it is not only Zeds but also Animals clipping through walls. Depending on the situation, they will either clip through a window or if not given enough space, will "climb" the wall as if it is one big step and be placed on the roof. Can be replicated by spawning a large AI like a Bear or a Moose, if he follows you into a house, with little walkable space (Upper Floor of Chernarus Pub), he will 50/50 phase through a wall.
