deviantdigi 22 Posted July 6, 2012 Greetings, If its even possible. I think it would interesting if at veteran difficulty zombies required a head shot. Shooting a zombie anywhere besides the head would make them go into unconsciousness and start the timer. Obviously, after a certain amount of time they will wake up again. It would give more depth to the zombies. Given the amount of the timer, one may have a different view about getting into a stand off situation. The players weapon choice may change adding the marksman ship aspect. Here is a clip from the movie Zombieland: Thanks for reading!
Womb Raider 92 Posted July 6, 2012 If the animations and how they acted were flush and good, I'd agree but that is a long way down the road.
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com 164 Posted July 6, 2012 I agree with this and not just for vet servers. I think body shots should only knock back, stun or change posture of the infected. This would also tie in well with my slower zombie suggestion here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=24415

evoxtom 142 Posted July 6, 2012 They are infected/sick humans not actual zombies, so I'm guessing body shots count because of this fact. Think 28 days later zombies.Edit- it might add some needed fear though. Don't get me wrong, I do like this idea a lot.
Kophka 109 Posted July 6, 2012 As far as we can deduce from the forums, the Infected are NOT dead. They still rely upon oxygen to live, which means anything that causes blood circulation to stop can kill them, just like us. Heart destroyed, no blood left, brain destroyed, shock/trauma. jesquik 75 Posted July 6, 2012 I like this idea quite a lot. The zombie dynamics need to be improved first, but this could be a fantastic way to add to their 'character' down the road.
wolfstriked 143 Posted July 6, 2012 Less ammo spawning means that you will come to love being able to one shot a zed with a revolver/enfield etc.

I'll take that into consideration with further suggestions. Though I think majority like the "dawn of the dead" zombies. I don't want to try to persuade the devs from making their zombie type. What your referring to is called the "Stop Drill" or "Mozambique". But yes I agree, once they correct and smooth out the running speed/zig zagging of the infected, a single shot (dependent upon your weapon) in the foot, arm, leg, should not be a kill shot. Shot to the heart = 1 hit kill, depending on the gunShot to the head = 1 hit kill, regardless of the gunShot to the arm = reduce attack speed of infected, cause players to drop their gun?Shot to the leg = drops the target to their belly, forcing them to crawl, I know this already works to some extent, but a 1911 shot in the shin should not kill a zombie immediately.Blah, blah, blah, you get the point I'm sure. enforcer1975 1111 Posted July 8, 2012 As far as a buddy tried you can't make a shot anywhere on the body except the head non lethal because the damage has to be done first before you can subtract it. However if you "harden" all body parts except the head on the zombie models... The PMC models should have a body armor too afaik. I got shot with a pistol 3 or 4 times when i ran into a bandit rushing into the woods. He was less fortunate and took 10 hits with 7,62 NATO from 2 rifles. So i assume the center mass has more resistance, i didn't count how many rounds it took to drop him due to the panic but he didn't drop on the first. If the PMC are not armored so be it, but it is possible to do so.
