WOLVERlNES 135 Posted January 10, 2023 I would love to see DayZ completely ported over to the new ENFUSION Engine. Draw distances really suffer in this game and I think long range combat in the open terrain could be greatly improved if the game engine was updated. With games like The Day Before and the next Last of Us in development with a multiplayer option being rumored — BI needs to kick this franchise in the arse and really update it to be in-par with Unreal Engine 5 titles. Maybe just call it DayZ 2 and rebuild from ground up in the new engine?
nemorus 258 Posted January 10, 2023 Shhhhhhh... *You have touched a very sensitive taboo-like topic* A future of this. 1
Parazight 1599 Posted January 10, 2023 It’s not ‘porting over’. It’s completely rebuilding a new game. Before any of that would potentially happen, let’s pray they redesign their business model because any new engine is not going to change the design decisions that’s left us with the number serious issues that we currently have. Cars, net code, no admins, ADS bug, security exploits and worthless brand managers are just the start. Not to mention we still haven’t received full parity since the last ‘port’.
DefectiveWater 537 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Devs said on stream that full Enfusion likely won't happen (or no plans as of yet) but they'll try and port whatever they can to DayZ. It's been a month or two since the stream so I forgot what was exactly said about it. Go to their twitch channel and find the video that's called "DayZ Producer Tim and his ultimate Chernarus survival", it should be the last video/stream and skip to 1:16:50 if you wanna listen to it for yourself. Girth Brooks 570 Posted January 10, 2023 Draw distance didn't suffer until they decided to cater to consoles. Then our distance slider disappeared...... so thanks for that consoles. Dayz being released to consoles was a money grab to fund Enfusion for Arma4 development. That's it. Don't worry there will be a Dayz mod for Arma4 that will probably be better than this, with more features and vehicles that actually work.
WOLVERlNES 135 Posted January 11, 2023 I’d argue DayZ does more business for BI than Arma franchise.
nemorus 258 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) You'd be wrong about that. It's "DayZ" that's a sidekick. In fact it's a just a little game for them. Also, without "ARMA" there would be not any "DayZ" at all. https://www.bohemia.net/blog/bohemia-interactive-sales-reaching-68-milion-usd-in-2019 this is interesting. It's not 100% accurate of course, no doubt some hidden numbers here and there but it gives an impression. ps. and yes - its and old data. COVID happened as well. WOLVERlNES 135 Posted January 15, 2023 We all know DayZ was a mod for Arma, but I personally know way more people that have played DayZ than have played Arma. I’ve never played Arma myself. And there’s a myriad of YouTubers & Twitch streamers making content for DayZ, Arma content is barely streamed. I still think DayZ has more clout than Arma and earning power.

I still think DayZ has more clout than Arma and earning power. That's what we think, but for BI it is different. Arma is their baby, DayZ is the obnoxious but successful side show that keeps the business running. Judging by how they have treated the dev team over the years - and the decision to force the very premature 1.0 release in 2018 - BI were fully prepared to let DayZ die quietly. The community and dev team have however made sure it didn't die - and now BI will happily let it have just enough support to keep going and finance Arma 4. That's my tinfoil hat comment of the day... As for DayZ in Enfusion, it will never happen with DayZ 1.X, but if and when BI decide to make a sequel we might see DayZ 2 in Enfusion some day. But I think we'll have Arma 4 and a DayZ mod for that long before that happens. 1

IreneLWells 0 Posted August 21, 2023 (edited) The recent Engine Update for DayZ has brought significant improvements to the game's performance and visuals, enhancing the overall player experience. The update addresses long-standing issues, resulting in smoother gameplay and increased realism. Players can now enjoy more immersive environments and better character animations. However, it's important to focus on genuine gaming content rather than unrelated topics like Payday Loans For Bad Credit, which can disrupt the discussion.
