As a new player its a major pain in the ass to get started. A slight bump to the spawn of small rocks, knives, and water bottles would be nice.

It's supposed to be a struggle. If anything, it should be harder. But if you really do want boosted loot, there are hundreds of loot boosted servers.

The problem with that is this game is only a struggle when you're a fresh spawn. Once you get some basic gear , bit of food and fresh water it's easy. Which is why I immediately head inland. Coast is always stripped clean because everyone spawns there. You might as well not waste your time and take your chances by heading north.

As a new spawn, I advise to take note of where nearby trails and railroad tracks are at.  Go near them,  Then go loot some houses down the road.  Finally, double back to those spots and look for ambient spawned rocks.  You can combine them to make a stone knife.  Do the same with fruit trees + fruit.  Also with dead logs/hay bales + mushrooms.  Coming back to an area will sometimes get you the things that you need to survive.
