''Ragnor'' 3 Posted January 8, 2022 I would like to see an 'after action report' added. While "You are Dead" if quite stark and effective. There are times I would like to know why? aka WTF just happened? Why was there a click when I pulled my gun and now I'm dead? Why did the world silently go black while I was strolling through the woods one day? The idea would be something like You are dead Cause of death: 'Survivor X headshot you from from 10,000 yards away.' or "You bled out" or "the dungeon colapsed" or whatever You survived "X hours" You traveled "X km" And all the other random stats acrued during that 'lifetime' Mostly, While death is final, Still, It really bugs the crap out of me , and I'm sure allot of other people to be instakilled and never know the reason why you lost all the gear you just collected after 48 hours of strait game play. To at least know why might help to avoid those mistakes in the next life and isn't that what it's all about? 2
General Zod 1118 Posted January 9, 2022 Stats for hours and distance are shown on the log in screen and don't work very well. Some community servers have a little list on the left bottom of the screen where it says who killed who with what and from how far.
DayzDayzFanboy 1280 Posted January 9, 2022 I certainly wouldn't want this on official servers as this gives an advantage to squads. I don't mind info on, say, life span, infected killed, miles travelled, etc. But info on what weapon you were shot by and at what range would help a squad pin point their assailant. 1

Dead men don't talk. Seems unfair that I spent all that effort to be stealthy, hunt you down, and kill you only for the careless victim to say "Hey squadmates in discord, the game says the guy who shot me is over in that building to the northeast, He's got an M4." 15 hours ago, ''Ragnor'' said: To at least know why might help to avoid those mistakes in the next life and isn't that what it's all about? There is no 'next life' in the gameplay loop. You start over. The information you desire isn't actually needed. Avoid those mistakes by developing better tactics ahead of time. This is an old debate and the designers have kept killfeeds out of vanilla on purpose. A good decision, in my opinion.
Homeschooliazon 87 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) Hm I feel it de-mystifies the death if it gives a report on what killed you. Also if you don't know what killed you, its either someone stealthily threw a grenade at you or someone shot you in the back, not much you can do other than spin and watch in all directions like the camera on the google street view cars all the time to avoid that. Also eat carrots for better vision. You got killed from 1 Meter with a shotgun: Spin more like the Google Street View Car and eat more carrots. You got killed from 1000 Meters with a Sporter: Spin more like the Google Street View Car and eat more carrots. You stepped on a landmine: Eat more carrots. You died of disease: Do less diseasy things. Edited January 9, 2022 by Homeschooliazon

DefectiveWater 539 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) Showing stats at the end? Sure, 100% agreed. Showing cause of death? No. Inspecting dead bodies? Yes, but only showing obvious signs like: Gunshot wounds, cuts, blunt weapon trauma... Edited January 9, 2022 by DefectiveWater
''Ragnor'' 3 Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) OK yeah, I can see the point of the non-solo players concerned about squad mates. But yeah, inspecting the dead body would work too. For example the other night. I am standing on a pile of pallets surrounded by zombies. I pull out my trusty mkII to execute said zombies at my liesure, then something goes 'click' and I'm dead. I really wanna know What the F happened. So yeah, just at least being able to see my body would give some clarity Edited January 13, 2022 by ''Ragnor'' spelling

Also what do you hope to find out from the post mortem ? Walk up to the body, press F to chose examine and get a message, hmmm yes there is a bullet hole here. Someone saw you having trouble with the zeds and instead of helping you out decided to shoot you because DayZ is played mostly by a bunch of wankers. 😆 1
