Sniping in dayz is too easy

Hi,

In my opinion sniping in dayz with Hunting Scope and also other scopes like ACOG / PSO is way too easy. Its like Counter Strike 1.6 scope style, black screen with cross.

Please do something with it and make it harder to use scope. Nowdays if you wanna kill someone or stay alive you MUST have sniper rifle (blaze / thundra). Without it you are like without hand. Please nerf scopes to make them harder to use.

I dont play many games so I dont know how it is in other game sbut maybe something like this? Its escape from tarkov game. I know on screen could be waay diffrent scope comapred to dayz hunting scope that is longe range but still

Wouldn't make it harder I think.

So let me get this straight, you want 2D (overlay) scopes to be like PU scope, PSO scope, and ACOG (3D models)?

Because yes, that would be a nice visual change. I agree with that suggestion.
But if you are asking for legit Picture in Picture rendering method - where outside of the scope isn't zoomed, but inside is a new rendered zoomed in image, then that's gonna be rough to run (low framerate when zooming).

How do you think that having PiP will make it harder? If anything, you can have more aware if you see the surroundings. Other than that, suggesting something to be done without giving ideas is not really a suggestion, is it?

in the "old" day i remember broken scopes. some had a crack in the glass, which made it hard to scope thru. maybe just bring this back and make em spawn all damaged, so people have to maintain/repair the attachments.

Oh yeah that definitely needs to be a thing. Scopes shouldn't use 2D overlays anymore, so damaged 3D models should become a thing.

its f-ing hard to snipe moving targets. and you havr to get the zeroing straight. and ontop of that bullets loose a lot of damage at range. its hard enough.

And you get a 30-40% drop in framerate. Depending on map/hardware could even be a LOT worse than that. Apart from frame drop I'm not sure how this is harder than black borders.

To make it harder? What I would like to see, for starters I would remove "zeroing" on hunting scope, because it doesn't work like that IRL. Same with ACOG. Second, make people zero in mil clicks instead of simply choosing a range. You would need to know the amount of clicks to set for a certain range for the weapon you are using, except on scopes that have turrets with marked ranges for certain weapon (PSO-1 on SVD, PU on Mosin). Third, simple wind drift mechanic would be nice, nothing fancy, even one wind over whole map, HUD indicator to estimate current wind speed / angle. Fourth maybe barrels heat up as you fire multiple rounds, point of impact starts to walk and the accuracy goes down.

None of the above will actually happen.

Before I start I would like to say I understand the realism behind sniping, and why it makes sense as a playstyle, but surley anybody will admit that it is a little frustrating to put hours of work into a charicter to have someone to point-and-click your charicter's health to zero and be rewarded with all those hours of your work. I understand it as a playstyle, and it does make the most sense, because you can kill many people without ever putting yourself at risk other than perhaps another sniper.

A good solution i think would be that maybe sniper rifles should be two shot kills, so that players have at  click counter least a microscopic hope in hell of running away. Losing most of your health randomly would be the game's way of saying that there is a sniper aiming at you and if you dont do somthing in the next three or so seconds then you will soon be enjoying a one way trip to a scenic veiw of the ocean. Instakills should be reserved to headshots on unprotected heads. No weapon in dayz at all should be an instakill to your chest. (well, maybe when they add rocket launchers then maybe).
