maxon-69 35 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) A long time ago, so the tower of Zelenograd in the early DayZ patches had a radio signal (voice message). It was possible to approach it and listen to the recorded sound "this message is broadcast every hour, do not fly here ..." But then the developers removed this script. What for? It was fun to hear, atmospheric. Why didn't you develop this direction? Please return the sound scripts. Has anyone ever played STALKER ? there are scenes where a mysterious voice accompanies you and it's very cool, makes you tense up and inspires fear. ... I remembered a cool scene from the movie "I'm a Legend" when the main character on the radio said-if you can hear me, then you are not alone... well, it sounded cool, don't you agree? I agree yea, I'd love more interactions like this in day z. I'd love a couple of underground facilities added on chernarus and livonia too with some story behind them like what they were used for.
nemorus 265 Posted June 23, 2021 hehehe, stalker had this nifty story about brainwashing through radiowaves or something like that. The voice of "monolith" it was. Right now z-tower is just a unique place on a map, that can be used to cheat. The thing with hugging walls and clearing landscape of any static objects is still happening. ps. tisy is even better place to implement stuff with that big bunker beneath it. Too bad that the game don't know what underground/interior cell is.

Tonyeh 454 Posted June 23, 2021 One of the great things about the Namalsk map was the little bits of a story that could be found. I played Namalsk for a few months and just wandered the map. It was, probably, the best DayZ experience I've had. I managed to find some documents here and there that talked about a certain project and how things went to shit shortly afterward. Now, in my head, the story of DayZ begun with a secret science experiment that went tits up and spread a disease around the world resulting in the last days. There's not much of a story there, granted, but immersion-wise it was great and wandering around those spooky facilities was very atmospheric. Something fishy happened on Namalsk during the western invasion of whatever this east European country this is supposed to be and now ordinary people have to try and survive the aftermath. I don't know what the real lore is behind the game and I don't really care. But the stuff on the Namalsk map shows that even a touch of pre-collapse info can add a lot. The problem though, as I see it, is that DayZ appears to just be going in the online deathmatch route and the post apocalypse survival aspects are getting forgotten about. One of the most popular servers I play on is Esseker and that's just run around and kill people until you're killed yourself. While truer survival maps like Chernarus and Livonia are getting left behind. This is because, obviously, survival becomes too easy after a while and the player ends up with nothing to do. This is why Namalsk was great. It gave me something to investigate, even if the investigation came pretty much to naught in the end. Now, running through Esseker has been a bit of fun. But it got dull real fast and that's the main issue with that type of play in DayZ. The thing is Zero Esseker is stuffed to the gills every night of the week, so there are players out there who are solely about playing this game like it was a WWIII sim or something where you gear up a small arsenal and go and snipe some poor sod from 500 yards away. Which is a bit of a shame, because DayZ should have so much more to offer.
William Sternritter 449 Posted June 24, 2021 I don't necessarily need underground and crazy science experiments on every map, but yes more either environmental clues or outright storytelling elements such as radio transmissions on repeat or a logbook here and there would nicely add flavor. We can see the aftermath, but sometimes you just wonder what was the origin in that province and how it all progressed and maybe some clues as to what next. We can travel between maps with the same character, so why not expand this and make it a bit of a story.

I'd love to know a bit more about that area and just other places in general. I think chernarus would suit a subterranean system better than livonia.

I guess I can only dream 😣 1
Tonyeh 454 Posted June 24, 2021 God...I don't know how anyone could play this game on a console. How would you even aim correctly? I cannot imagine trying to get anything out of this game on that platform. As to new maps, the only way you'll see them is if BI release them as official. But seeing as Sumrak is an (ex?) employee, there's a chance that they might licence a vanilla version of it. Bear in mind though that some of the map is very rough and there are low res buildings from another game scattered around it too, which may lead to some crying from dissatisfied punters, especially as it's free on PC. Honestly though, I don't know why BI don't have a team specifically dealing with just new maps. I'd really like to see DayZ expanded to other regions before it dies.

I play ps4 at the moment and still it's definitely playable on there. cars become unstable when it's full pop servers but the official server I play on it's mostly medium and get high pop now and then. when it's high pop I just remember to not drive my ada 4x4 or gunter until the server is either medium or low. it's honestly very playable on console from my experiences on it, sure I get the bugs like everyone else does and the frame drops in big cities like topolin and cherno but other than that I have a great time on this game. its the only game I have like it, there is nothing else out there that gets me gripped like dayz especially when you have a plan on this game. it's great and I'm looking forward to 1.13 come mid July. 😀
