vfxtodd 125 Posted April 22, 2021 No, I'm not talking about the movie. I'm talking about the fact that it is nearly impossible to find knives or any sharp objects in DayZ. I've walked through entire towns and not found anything sharp. I just got off the game a few minutes ago, and I was able to find canned food. But, without something sharp, it just takes up space in my slots. And, I found a fresh potato. I grabbed it. It was in my hands. And yet, I could not eat it. What??? The good news is, I just got the XBox Series S, next gen console, and I am very happy that the game plays better than it did on my PS4. It loads very fast, and plays pretty smoothly. Although now with this latest update, I am made to bleed by zombies a lot faster than before. Which is fine. But, when you're struggling to find knives or anything that you can create rags or cut up chickens or roosters with, it just becomes frustrating. And not fun. Are there special places to find knives? How do you cut up a chicken or rooster without sharp objects? Seriously. I'm almost kicking myself for buying DayZ for my new console. Make sure to linger around or backtrack the trails for the Stones to Spawn. Officer Failure 33 Posted April 23, 2021 On a full server when everything just got recently looted this can be a real pain. Also respawning of loot is sometimes a bit odd. You find five hunting knives within three minutes or two utility buttpacks in one barrack or four pile of the same ammunition in one military building. And then you find no utility buttpack for weeks, or no sharp object in a whole village. I find the loot is the most balanced when it had more time for respawning. I never found two stones when i needed them, yea there could be more of them - especially on the coast spawning areas where its the most needed. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Yea, I think having even a knife or child's backpack near spawn points would be nice. Something so that you're not totally without choice. I know this is just a game. But, I just can't see in a real apocalyptic situation where you'd be in a major city (i.e. Cherno or Electro) and not find any tools or knives. I think some realism is in order. Now the new feature of 1.12 is that potatoes need to be peeled to become edible. They are considered as seeds (you can plant them, and grow them), but peeling makes them edible. Tonyeh 454 Posted April 23, 2021 It's one of the most bizarre changes that I've seen in the game. I mean people eat spuds all the time with their jackets on. And in a time of desperation, you could easily chew down on a potato with it's skin still intact.
