I get sick quickly in current PS4 version. Disappointing state.

I haven't played DayZ in months. Since jumping back in yesterday, I've noticed that my character gets sick rather quickly with little to no eating or drinking.

Just now, I killed a rooster and cooked it. Less than a minute later I was sick. It seems that getting sick happens too easily. DayZ is already an intense survival game which is what I expect. But, to get sick so easily just takes the fun out of the game.

Yesterday, I died 5 times in less than an hour after spawning fresh. Mostly I spawn in the middle of nowhere, or at least at a location where I don't see any telephone wires or buildings in the distance. A couple times I spawned near Cherno and Electro. But, even then the loot economy is so low that I'm lucky if I don't starve to death first. The last time I played a few months back, DayZ was in a great condition. Now, I get sick too soon with very little effort. And I die rapidly if I don't eat something. So those times I do spawn far away from a town/city, I ultimately die because there's literally nothing to loot. Yesterday, I spent half the time letting zombies kill me because I was already near death and could find nothing to survive on,

Today, after dying a couple times, I spawned and found a knife. Killed a zombie with a backpack, and cooked a rooster. That was my best experience since yesterday. I logged off when my character started throwing up from being sick. I just lost interest. It's become a game of how long can I live before I die. I can't even think about finding a weapon much less building any kind of base. I hope this changes. I don't see any point otherwise.

Back during the alpha v0.61, there were bugs. But, I could keep my character alive for weeks, and actually be able to carry a weapon or two.  Now? I'm losing interest fast.

wash hands before eating. you are getting salmonella. also stay dry and warm. find vitamins and teracycline. vitamins are for when sneezing and tetracylcine for other stuff. charcoal tabs for when you drink gas, disifectant or alcholic tincture

Gloves are your Friend.

Once you get those you wont have to wash your hands anymore. (which is rather silly, because the blood should still be there)

Also look for orchards (Apples) and pear Trees.

My food usually Comes from infected 1st they're a walking buffet. (Vanilla servers that is)

Chickens 2nd, Just dont forget to wash hands (the ocean, lakes, rivers and Wells see to that)

Own grown food 3rd (zucchini, pumpkins, peppers)

Orchards last, but definetly not least. Just Walk in a small radius around an orchard and Apples Will Spawn (usually 3/4 Apples at a time)

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone.

My main issue is that I have a hard time finding anything. I got lucky yesterday and have survived. But, that character is sick and near death. So, I'm going to let it die and respawn.

I will look for orchards and trees and look for fruit on the ground. I wasn't aware that such food was available. So, thank you immensely for that info.

I'm now logged in DayZ and will respawn and implement your advice. Cross your fingers. LOL.

Careful with fruit off the ground though. Make sure it isn't rotten. Once or twice I've nearly eaten rotten fruit when I've been in a rush!
