RagingGinger 0 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Iv'e only been playing for 3 days now. I finally learned a couple things because 1 nice player was kind enough to teach me how to do what i need to in order to get food and water. So now that i have been able to stay alive from starvation and dehydration. Every time I actually get a couple things like a can of food or an actual gun that't not complete some geared player comes up to me and shoots me with no warning. I got on for a little yesterday and that's when I met the guy that was nice enough to help me. While he was teaching me how to make a fire and cook food some geared guy shot me, him and his wife with no warning. So you can't even learn how to play. So what's the point? of even trying if the geared players won't allow you to learn anything? At this point this game was just a complete waist of money. You don't have a chance as a new player. ImpulZ 2491 Posted April 28, 2020 To add some explanation to @TheCreeper (DayZ)'s comment, this is what DayZ is about. Players are supposed to discover things by themselves, and have free choosing on what to do. The world out there is tough, and if someone manages to stay alive and gear themselves up, they gain power to engage other players, making it harder for them. Now there are multiple ways to approach this situation: Respawn and try to make it better. That can be achieved in multiple ways. Maybe you were too open positioned, because even if you have found some nice friends, you need to stay aware of your surroundings. As you learned, not everyone is that nice. Chose who you trust and how you engage other players. Some kill everyone instantly because they fear they get killed instead. Some have a more tactical approach. Some just like to kill, die and respawn. If you discover that this constant thread of looming insta death is not for you, there are several community servers out there, that have rules that enforce friendly, or at least roleplay behaviour, meaning players have to introduce themselves first or create a conflict before actually shooting you. What we mean to say is that what you experienced is DayZ in its purest. Not everyone is friendly. But there are some friendly people out there which make it worth it. It's up to you to find your own stile to live (and eventually die, that's the reality) in this world.

At least that is what I have seen. I was finally able to find gear but I logged off for fear of being randomly killed again. Since I don't know how to build I can't save any of it. I fear once I start trying to build I'm just going to be killed again and lose it all again.
drgullen 596 Posted April 29, 2020 The number one rule in DayZ is: don't get attached to your gear. It might be a player who does nothing but kill on sight or it might be a pack of wolves that came out of nowhere -- you're eventually going to be killed by someone or something and lose everything on you, that's just how it is. Rather than building, you might try burying. Loot a shovel and find something like a chest or waterproof bag. Once its filled, find a secluded spot that you won't forget, place it on the ground, put the shovel in your hands and bury it. It's a quick way to stash some of your loot, but keep in mind that if discovered by another player, it'll be gone. As @ImpulZ suggested, find a community server that has specific non-KOS rules and you might have a better experience there. As he said though, just don't give up, there are plenty of friendly people out there -- they are probably fewer in numbers than those that will KOS, but they exist. At the end of the day though, DayZ is what it is -- you could live on a character for only a few minutes or for many days, but eventually, you're gonna die and lose all your loot. If you can't come to grips with that, this game probably isn't for you.

He spent hours building a shelter and storing gear and he got offline for maybe 2 hours and got back on and it had already been raided and they cleaned him out. There seems to be no point as a new player. The older players don't give you a chance to learn anything.

Its a game with guns in it, and it can be used on other players, so offcourse some people will do just that. And to be frankly, the enviroment is not a threat in this game, so we are lucky that players can fill that role, if not it would be very boring to have nothing to fear... Im a so called older player, I get killed too, though more rarely and mostly to hackers, because i learned and adapted to a very coucious stealthy playstyle. Stay away from people, thats just it. Most people dont want to sit by the camp fire and sing combaya with you. I only aproach other players if i have too, like the other day i accidently got cholera and couldnt find tetrapills so went to the Coast and looked for someone that could help me. I came across a group of 3 people and they actually helped me and it gave me a little believe in humanety again, but only slightly, so I went back inland to my hermit life again. Now im a Bambi again thanks to a teleporter with a shovel coming out of no where. Im more scared of scriptkiddies than military geared players nowadays, now those are really on top of the foodchain
