Can't start a fire. Please fix.

I've tried on both Chenaurus and Livonia servers. With a fireplace and a (dry) hand drill or matches I am unable to start a fire to warm up or cook food. Until this is fixed, I'm not playing the game.

I'll try it out next time I'm on Todd.

I've noticed some new odd things too that n one else has seemed to bring up like the 3rd person view camera creeping up and/or down at times.  I have to go back into first person view to reset it. 

I guess my point is that there seems to be a few things screwed up in the update as usual. .....and then the next update will be about fixing those while leaving the persistent bugs / optimization issues relatively untouched.

I'll let you know how it goes with making fire for me.  Hopefully someone else with the same problem can chime in.

Until this is fixed you're not playing the game ?

Is that meant to be some protest? As though BI care that one person throws their toys out of the pram because he doesn't know how to cook a steak. Really ?

Take it as you want. I just don't see the point in playing a game where two of the main forms of survival, cooking and staying warm in this case, are not even operational. If someone tells me they found a way to make it work, I will try it out. But, if I can't start a fire to cook or stay warm, it limits my choices for survival in a game that is about survival. 

You should stop making assumptions about why people share their experiences or opinions.

Eh ? Really ? It's so simple.

Cut down a bush using a knife, collect the large stick and small sticks. Cut down another bush, collect the firewood. Then cut some tree bark off a nearby tree.

Combine tree bark with firewood to create a campfire.

You can literally put a campfire anywhere, on the beach, in a house, on the grass, in a forest, on a rooftop, anywhere !

If you want to run it by me what you're trying to do to make fire, I'll try to help. 

You can even cut down bushes with your bare hands to produce sticks. You'll need small sticks. You can use bark that you can cut from trees with a knife but you can also use rags for starter.  I usually split my stack of rags until I have one, I drop it, I equip matches and then ignite it.  Its then a campfire that I can add sticks to to keep going.  .....or logs, etc.

I'm not sure why your experience is creating fires but it sounds like you already know how.  Perhaps if you mention what you're doing exactly it would help. Personally, I'm not going to assume its due to something you're doing wrong since there are still odd bugs I'm encountering too since the update.  .....bugs that I hadn't encountered before.

Hey Todd...

The frame rate stutter was so bad tonight that I couldn't handle it anymore and logged off.  ....but before I did, I checked and at least in my case, I was able to start a fire.

How did you start the fire? I have both matches and the hand drill. I just now jumped on, and tried again. And STILL I cannot start a fire.

I had a piece of paper after unpacking some bullets...

In this particular case I dropped the paper, put the matches in my hand and then looked directly at the paper on the ground. The option to ignite (R2) appears on the screen and voila. You can also use a rag, bark, etc. but you need something like that to start the fire as kindling and combine sticks or logs for sustainable fires.
