If you can slaughter chickens (i.e. you have a knife) you can make a fire. Small stick + bark = fireplace OR hand drill. Use the latter to ignite the former. Long stick to roast chicken steaks or whatever over a fire. (Roast veggies or mushrooms if you can, it increases nutrition value.) Sticks you can get from bushes with your bare hands if you need to, but it will be faster (and safer) with a knife is or axe.
