It has been documented somewhere by BI or a forum moderator, I remember reading it but can't recall where. Maybe Twitter or Reddit but it was some time ago.

It was on Reddit a couple of months ago, but I can't recall any official info. I'm 99% sure it was one of those many 'you have to find out for yourself, the hard way'. Did you at least survive leaving the map? I barely escaped with my life when I tried that.

Yea I guess it would have been wiser to include this change in one of their "cool stylish new" update videos. Our characters weren't harmed though but I haven't touched the game since. Like I described, I could think of 3 different better solutions from the top of my head. Very annoying and quite frankly idiotic.
