Play as infected

Recommended Posts

A fun element to add to the game or mod would be:-

Instead of dying and respawning as a fresh spawn, why not have an option to continue playing as an infected player.

As you run around looking for victims other infected would follow you i.e creating hordes. The longer you live the greater numbers your horde becomes as you run from town to town gathering infected.

Players you kill would also have the option to continue as infected and they would then do the same...or join your horde.

This would result in a massive manhunt for players adding constant fear to survivors lol

This will probably not be a thing for the main game. Reason is on the one hand, that our player characters are immune to the infection that turned the rest of the population into the infected. The infected are not "resurrected undead", meaning both human and infected die from the same wounds.

Second, if players were able to control the infected, they would most likely try to help their living friends. Meaning they could just decide to run with their friends, making the entire thing very ridiculous. But if a modder is interested in some form of the idea, feel free to do it. 🙂

A few of us were talking about this the other day... about the "official" back story on why you wash up on the coast in the first place... The assumption on my end has always been that we're a member of the crew of one of the shipwrecks and there was a big storm at sea- and we wash ashore.

But is there some other story behind the "immunity" or do we just choose the path of our own DayZ prequel?

Going a bit offtopic here 🙂

There are certain lore-elements reflected in the environment and gameplay (e.g. the aforementioned facts that players do not turn and infected can die by body shots), but we do not want to force a storyline on our players. So while there is some truth, feel free to let your fantasy go wild, you can't be wrong as long as you have fun *sorry for the cheesy line*. 🙂

Sorry for taking a smidge off topic but I do appreciate the response.
