I remember when I was the one trying to put out flame wars and reverting the talk back to facts and strategies. But threads like that are extremely rare these days (because there's hardly anything to discuss) and I can't help but check out this forum every now and then just to see what's going on. And although little actually is, it's hardly the fault of the forum users.

OK, @choppinbroccoli I don't agree with you, but it's no reason to be a jerk, so sorry for that. Just taking one step back here. Your optimism is definitely not what the problem is here.

When I get back from my vacation (hello from Vietnam!), I'd like to do some research on the cold and other diseases. Apart from that, it seems I need a break from this project. And I do need my Cherno fix every now and then.

Also, I did hope that the persistence fix comes earlier than a year or two. *sigh* That's really a bummer, you guys. :/

Okay well sorry you got caught in the middle of optimism and frustration there. I remember our talks from way back when (that was like two years ago)... those were happy times. 

Thanks for asking about ZH- He still sits behind me on his own computer when I'm back home but he's engaged in other faster twitch titles right now. We do talk about getting him back into DayZ but I think he's letting me "git gud" again so that I can help him wade through the state of the game with a little more ease. I could sense after we'd been murdered a few times that he was starting to tire of my "talk first, shoot second" attitude. The Helpy Helpers are a much less tolerant bunch now...

I want this title to succeed as much as the next person since I thoroughly enjoyed all of the experiences that inspired the contributions to that DayZ thread... I'd like to be back in the .3x where we knew what worked and what didn't and we expected the game to be a mess. We ALL knew what we signed up for and being on the ragged edge of development was as thrilling a prospect as that encounter in the Gorka police station... 

We'll get there somehow- but between now and when the game is better than it was I think we're in for some discomfort.

Tell him I remember the stories about you two overlooking Bere and for a while I even carried a fully-kitted M4A1 (it meant something back then) as a gift for him, but 1) it was on a HC server and you guys played 3pp, 2) US pings were killing me back then (from Warsaw, Poland). Since high ping is much more playable right now, I hope that one day, when 1.0 comes out, we all meet on some US server with @emuthreat and his bunch and hopefully create a meaningful community. Till then, take care there.
