Switching backpacks?

I was wearing the school backpack, and I came across a bigger backpack. I selected the school backpack in my inventory, but found no choices for dropping it or swapping it with another one. Am I missing something, or has this not been added, yet?

Hold Y on current backpack and then you should equip the new backpack when you pick it up but always make sure you check conditions

Pick new backpack up. Highlight old backpack. Hit X button. Then RB to hand, press Y button on all the stuff in the old back pack to put it back in New one.

Its easiest to find your current backpack in the top right - hold Y to take it off and put it on the ground, then go to the new backpack and press X to equip and put it on, then go to your old backpack on the ground and just tap Y on each item still inside to put it inside your new backpack - just like real life, this will work with most switching of items. This seems to be quicker as you dont have to fiddle with "placing items in hands" and can keep weapons/food/drinks/etc ready in your hands.

1. Take off old item directly on the ground.

2. Pick up new item directly to your body.

3. Transfer contents from old item into new item.

Just drop your current backpack and equip the new backpack. Remember to take the gear out of your old backpack before you leave.

Easiest way is to pick the backpack up then highlight your old one that you're wearing and press A. It swaps them.
