MrAerospace 87 Posted January 29, 2018 If the terrain resolution is too difficult to change, what about Terrain Altering Objects: rather than creating a physical object (such as rocks, trees and buildings) this object itself intersects, and adds highly localised detail to the terrain map, in strategic places such as roads, rivers/creeks, forests edges, etc. (look up edge effects for some interesting reading) Imagine the possibilities: - Added complexity to roads and railways (such as engineered cut and fill slopes both laterally and longitudinally), - Terrain masking - rapid terrain changes around the edges of woods and gullies, offering a rapid way to break visual contact (reducing the need and repetitiveness of object masking) - Leading to much tighter and closer squad level manoeuvring, (making for faster tactical decisions alongside larger strategies) - Rather than needing large, isolated forests out to the west, terrain altering objects can help create more seclusion; ideal for camps and bases.
