Hawken Rouge 1 Posted September 13, 2017 I think that beds should be implemented into Dayz, being placeable as a Stretcher, and being in houses. This would encourage players to build bases so they could sleep without their character getting wet or killed. But What would beds do? Dayz is Permadeath, so Respawning there is out of the window, but I think that sleeping there would be way better, as when you wake up could be in the Energised State, and you could also heal faster when you sleep. To be clear, the sleeping wouldn't fast forward time, it would just speed up healing, and energise you, probably over 10 - 15 mins, so you could use it as you wait for a friend to run to you, or while you have food. What do you guys think?
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted September 13, 2017 The idea/concept has been suggested before. But DayZ would be kind of a shitty game if you had to spend actual time in a bed recover and have to stay in game to do it. The general consensus is that if you're logged out you're sleeping in game. That said I do like the idea of being able to 'rest' to heal faster, two ways to go about it that wouldn't be exclusive. 1) You actually lay down/rest in a bed and you heal at a slightly quicker rate than if you were just running around doing things. And since you're resting your body is using up less hydration and food, this could also apply to sitting down, either on the ground or in a chair (mayby without the 'enhanced' heal rate). 2) You can lay down in a bed and can log out either instantly or with a reduced timer (Ie 10 seconds instead of 30). While you're logged out you'll start to heal over time, BUT you'll also consume some hydration and food while logged out and healing. There would have to be a few rules to this to prevent people from logging out while hungry and thirsty and logging in near death. Let's say when you log out in a bed you can only heal a maximum of 25% of your total health/blood, and say consume 10% of your hydration and food over the course of 4 hours or so. If you're already healthy or if you have more than 75% of your health you'll only heal and consume up to the point you got to 100% And on the other end of the spectrum you would only heal as long as you had more than 20% hydration and/or food. Be a good way to 'top off' your health when you log out, have a nice meal and go to bed then log out. For #2, there would have to be some mechanic to 'clean' or otherwise prepare a bed, or people will just use beds as a means to combat log/ghost. This could also be tied in with whatever sanitation mechanic they're going to have. IE if you just sleep in random beds in random houses without making them or cleaning them you might get bedbugs or some minor disease when you get up.
exacomvm 101 Posted September 13, 2017 Not bad idea, I think it should regen Blood only like 3 times faster if you're healthy ( energised+hydrated ), so players will still have to travel and look for supplies.
