Less-than-Lethal options???

Seems a lot of survivors battle with the issue of comitting the act of murder through means of self-defense. What about including a less-than-lethal option for people?

Maybe some rubber bullet ammunition or mace that provides a blinding affect on the target?

Zombies would be immune to both since rubber bullets or slugs are clearly not going to harm a zombie nor will mace. The rubber bullets/slugs would simply knock the target down or out for a short time,

It would be a nice option for those of us who want to avoid a serious incident from occurring between two parties when one is simply trying to go about their business without harming other survivors. It wouldn't work in every situation, but I could see it functional in more than a few.

Rubber bullets, make them do 25% the damage, have an extremely high chance to knock out the target player, and have no chance to bleed. That's my idea for rubber bullets. Best for shotguns or M203s. Maybe a short range stungun as well? 30 meter max range, max knockout chance, no damage, bleeding or chance of broken bones.

But a mace? Bit of an oddity in a society like today, right? How many places could a mace possible be hidden? Nah, bit much. Maybe let the crowbar knock people out for a headshot.

Supported, without the mace.

(If you mean Mace as in the chemical, then pepperspray is better in every possible fashion)

OP and this post, very great idea. There needs to be more of a variety of weapons. More bows/xbows, throwing knives, snare traps... just things that add atmosphere and variety. When you get a gun with bullets it should be a godsend!

But yes, I'd like a way to knock the fuck out of my victims. Seriously. Would give a whole new variety to gameplay. First of all, you can screw with your friends if you've got the food to cover it. That'd be fun.

But more seriously, how awesome would it be to ambush a team of two or three guys, knock them all out, then kidnap one of them for a ransom? That's just awesome in my eyes.

you would like to be stuck in one place while people sitting around you get all your gear? what to the captured player can do in the meantime? and what happens if he log out?

i think you did not thought till the end...

Well I meant chemical mace of course. Or maybe it's possible to get tear gas canisters for the m203? That way a gas mask would be useful and it would hinder vision when worn.

I would expect any less-than-lethal weapon to be completely useless against zombies (maybe a taser would stun a zombie) and strictly intended for survivor vs survivor crowd control.

Yes I would love stun weapons. And melee weapons are currently, One to two hits with the hatchet is a KO so is like 10 with the crowbar. Now you can only take whats in their bag, but still that is pretty good if you honestly don't wanna kill them. Thats a 1 in a million encounter. Whenever I knock someone out I hack on em til death. But, they usually bleed to death anyway.

Knock them down, look their backpacks, run away. If they have a good gun. Shoot them. Woot a idea to help bandits not waste ammo on usless targets.

I like it, but a comment on usage vs Zeds; they aren't dead zombies so they should still be able to be knocked the fuck out

I like these ideas. I think we should allow bandits to be bandits without necessarily having to kill. Robbery should be made more viable and a somehow a better option for bandits than flat-out murder. Let them capture you and take a few items they can carry but leave you with your life.

sounds fun +1 but only if the log of prob is solved also brings me a nice idea how to take bitter sweet revange on bandit step1 KO by rubberball or beanbag(more ironic) step2 break his legs step3 take his morphin step4 throwe flare at him step5 shoot in the air step6 get to a save point with good view final step eat something tasty and watch him being swarmed by zeds

Towards the Idea of nonlethal weapons, i love the idea. But Rubber bullets are really rare in real life.

Such things as Tear Gas Grenades and Stuff that disables would work.

*Tear Gas Grenades (Knocks any player in it for to long out)

*Stun Gun (Secondary)

*Mace(Bottle)

*Flash Bangs Grenades (Your vision burrs alot and your aim is everywhere for a few minutes)

*Concision Grenade (Your character passes out for a minute)

Cool concept, I don't know that it should have any real priority though. I don't think it would change the KOS dynamic of the game much (which I think is what people are suggesting?), compared to something like smoke grenades that I have used often when dealing with snipers or bottlenecks.

Im a lonely player near stary sobor woods. I am gutting a cow when suddenly *FIZZ* *FIZZ* I'm on the ground uncounscious.

Somebody just shot me with lessthanlethal weapon. I know ill wake up in 30sec/1minute or so. I'm sure ill be dead soon.

I slowly wake up and through my blurry view i can see some ghillie suit moving around me..

One guy is talking to me with a heavy russian accent (of course ;) )

"YOU BEING ROBBED! YOU DONT MOVE! WE HAVE HANDCUFF YOU!" (while handcuff you can only walk crouched, and you can't deco for at least 5 min) I am robbed from my M4A1 CCO SD weapon, some stanag, and all my medical supplies. Through direct chat i beg them to let me just one bandage and one morphine.

"YOU GO DIE AMERICAN DOG" i hear. Then *FIZZ*FIZZ* im on the ground again. Inconscious. I wake up 30sec/1 minute later. Noone around.The sun is going down. I hear some zombie noise not so far from me. The fuckin bandits, they left me my knife.. I can cut my handcuff with it (right-clik you know) but it takes a 30 second animation so i go do it in the cover.

I just got robbed. But I am alive.

You need some imagination bro!

I wouldn't kill em in the end, I'd probably set them free with a can of beans and a flashlight :P

Actually, I probably wouldn't even do that. I'd untie em, give em a gun, a map and say I'm sorry.

Someone has been playing APB huh? But i like the system of having a "police". People that dont like bandits try to catch them alive (we need some kind of a realistic reward).

And being able to knock players out in loot areas so you dont kill them is absolutely PERFECT!

I would just switch to the rubber bullets get him knocket out for 2 mins and loot the rest and go away.... PLEASE PUT THIS IN THE GAME!
