Best servers for persistent "camp"

What would you guys consider a good server to place a camp? I've set up a camp with about 15 barrels in it, but for the time being that server is not up. While I'm hoping it will be up again sooner than later, I'm wondering if there are any server's that are completely safe to build a camp on and they won't get wiped until say, a new version comes out. Any input would be appreciated.

If you haven't already, find a reliable private hive and stick to it. Less chance they will go down over a random public one

You're best of looking in the Servers forum on here, but the two servers I run are fully persistent. We've only had one wipe since 0.59 on our 3PP server and that was to fix an issue (touch wood we won;t be wiping again until an update necessitates it), but our 1PP hasn't been touched and running great.

If you want to be on public hive, spread your stashes out over several servers - thereby minimising the risk if any one of them goes down or gets 'reassigned'.

 

Even then you can be unlucky. My main stashes are on three servers and since 0.59, one has disappeared completely and the other (an 'official' server) now fails to connect such that I spawn in as a freshie...

Yep, with the way official servers work now its a game of luck.  You have to be lucky your server doesn't go down and change hands to a server that someone bought through the server provider.  I hope this issue will be fixed in the future.

 

It is not an exaggeration to say the biggest risk to losing your camp is not a player finding it in game, but from a server going down due to someone buying a server from a server provider.

Thanks for the responses. I was thinking along the same lines as you Mookie - spread the stash among several servers. Also, I 100% agree with you komalt. I've set up a couple of places where I like to keep my barrels and none of them have ever been touched except by my own two hands. The only loss I've taken is the what I originally posted about, the camp that was my biggest camp to date, due to the recent disappearance of the server. I'm guessing becoming friendly with the server owner(s) is the only true way to know what is going on/what will be going on with that server. One more question how does one know what an 'official' server is or how do I differentiate between the type of server?

Well the supposed 'official' servers are the ones that are numbered with plain names and region names such as DAL 1-024 or NY 3-293 just as examples these servers are also only on the public hive.  Servers that are not 'official' with custom names that say things like 'HIGH LOOT' or 'Dave's server' are servers bought out by someone and probably have active admins.

 

However be careful because some servers try to disguise there name in this way to look official, but its not many and usually they have mistakes in their titles.

Its against the rules to imitate or pose as an 'official' Bohemia server. Read the server owner rules.

I have played on NL official persistance ON servers had my camp there on 3-4 different servers for 5-6 months without any problem. They were NL 2-3, 2-5, 2-7, 2-12, 2-9. Generally low pop, good for setting up camp.

That issue is because the server is suffering from a DNS failure. I would contact the server's GSP to get it fixed. That is what I did.

I know it is, but go look on the server list you can find a handful trying to do this.  Its not like there is a clear icon or something showing its an official server.  People make there servers called DayZ NY 5-283 and it looks official.   They are up even as we speak.

Myself and a few guys around the forums pay for a public server that is currently low pop.  We have not had to wipe anything yet but if it ever came to be we would update the MOTD and give people as big of a heads up as possible.  We have a few regulars that seem to be using it as a home base.
