RamTownzZ 0 Posted December 29, 2015 So I ran around like crazy to find myself a wild animal, killed it and then ran around like crazy to find myself a barrel. I made the tanned leather and ran like crazy to find a Leather sewing kit. I then read on online that Nails could be used to Colour the clothing black so I did. I got a dark red colour and I'm really not satified so I tried to bleach it back with Desinfectant spray (from what I learned of Wobo ) and it did not work. So my question is: Can I get the Leather Storage vest another colour without having to find another SUPER RARE animal pelt? Thanks
S3V3N 1402 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) I don't think you can bleach leather. Bleaching is only for cottonwear. The dying is very limited at the moment and not really black, but more of a dark brown. You can also just cut off some bark from a oak tree, if you can't find nails. However, the complete leather outfit isn't black, but comes in all shades of brown. Someone pointed out that in reality we would not be able to dye stuff completely black, either (at least not by the means we find ingame). If you want completely black leather pants, you have to wait for the leather pants that go with the rider's jacket (the model is already done). The only black vest that I know of is the high capacity vest and the only really black "jacket" is the tactical shirt, found at chopper sites (ok, the padded jacket's black, too, but it's looking a bit dandy). Unfortunately, the leather outfit does really not meet expectations when it comes to dying it black, but I halfway think that was the intention, as it does give the idea of the person being a hunter and not clad in any other black clothes. Zurvivalist 300 Posted December 29, 2015 OK a few common beginner mistakes were made here. Luckily I'm happy to help a fellow crafter out. Here's how I make my clothing the bushcrafters way. First you will need to find a barrel of course . Which is the center of your camping lifestyle. And a bunch of wire. You will also need a couple pristine sewing kits .Set your barrel up near a water source around 150 meters away is ideal , You may need to put more water in the barrel during this process. Set out all your rabbit snares .run 100+ meters away from the rabbit traps, down to the water , make a garden plot., then go back to check and see if you caught any rabbits. Ifso , skin and gut them, Save the meat, guts and hides in the barrel , reset the traps . Return to your plot , plant the seeds and water them , ( this will take about 15 minutes to grow. Go back and check your traps again . Keep setting them until they are all ruined. Hopefully in this time you have collected plenty of pelts and guts. From your garden , you need the Plant Material left over from each crop. COntinue this until you have about half the barrel full of guts and the other half full of 100% plant material . ( this is not an exact science) Close the lid and make yourself some "fertilizer" You should get a couple bags out of these materials. Once you have those white bags. Drop in your raw hides Close the lid and tan leathers. you should get a couple nice stacks of leather .Take those sewing kits , and make everything you wanted. Once the clothing is made, Take one item at a time. put in barrel , Fill all remaining slots with dark oak tree bark. Close lid , tan hides, rinse repeat till all clothing is done. You should now have a fully crafted leather outfit. And the pride of knowing you made it all yourself. Next we take the barrel and use our axe to punch holes in it . Build a fire inside and cook up all that meat and veggies we had left over. Congrats you now have a fully crafted set of clothing , and a full belly to boot. All thats left is to head to the coast to get a few netting to make yourself a proper hood and covering .

If you have a bone fishing hook, this can be used to sew the tanned leathers into the appropriate item.
