LucidHills 94 Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) I have lost many guns by switching weapons or putting one away only to drop it because there isn't space for it in my inventory. Usually I don't notice until several minutes later by which point I can't remember when or where it was that I dropped it, and am never able to find it again.A simple, quiet noise (even if it is only heard by the player dropping the gun) of some kind to indicate that I've dropped something would help with this a lot I think. Thoughts? Edited December 20, 2015 by LucidHills
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted December 20, 2015 That's a good idea! I bet it's something they might put in with the new audio module. Currently dropping weapons when switching is happening more because changes to the inventory system. If you have an SMG stored in a pack and pull it out and then switch to a rifle on your back with a single hot key press, the SMG will switch places with your rifle. Then, when you try to put your rifle away it will drop to the ground because the SMG is on your back. Currently, I always try to put a gun away with it's own hot key before pulling out another to ensure I do not drop things as much.
Red_Ensign 990 Posted December 20, 2015 if it's a handgun, a holster or a full plate carrier set in your pack will 'reserve' the gun's spot. and it's not switching the weapon that causes the problem - it's picking things up while that gun is out of its spot. Switching will cause the problem it's just not the only way it happens. Why would you refute that? Are you just being contradictory to be... contradictory? Why do people here do that? Does it make them feel smarter? Jesus fuck.

Jesus fuck. because dropping the weapon doesn't happen to me if I don't pick anything up that encroaches on where the weapon was. sorry if my experience and attempt to clarify the issue bothered you. did your reply make YOU feel smarter? jesus h christ. and I have no time to go get a picture @lucid if you put the item (gun in this case) at the very bottom spot possible (last spots to be filled by picking things up) I think you'll find the issue happens less. LucidHills 94 Posted December 21, 2015 It happens with both cases, and yes a lot of the time it's due to picking things up while you have your gun out then trying to put it back when it no longer fits. This thread isn't really about how it happens though, it's about ways to notify the player when it happens.
