Players not showing up in server

Me and my friend joined the exact same server and went to the exact same location on the map and we couldn't see each other or anyone else is a server that apparently had 49 people in it.....you lot here are my last hope of help as I have searched google and got no help at all...its giving me a headache and I'm thinking of just deleting the game after 10mins of owning it and wasting 20quid

I don't understand what you mean I have just bought this game so I'm clueless but I know joining a server with a friend and going to the exact same place on the map should mean me seeing him and vice verser :S

You probably just aren't on the same server, or aren't in the same place.

well when i click on the friends tab and click on join on his game im sure im in the same game we both went to the lighthouse he said he was standing in the lighthouse i went there and no one was there and in servers with 49 people i walk around for ages and not a single person shows up its really frustrating no one seems to have a fix

well it seems for me this is a solo game as I just went into a server with 49 people and not one person showed up and no one replies when I wrote can anyone see my messages how annoying do I need to update my game even tho I bought it yesterday off steam or is there some sort of settings in need to change :(​

nope says there are 50 people and when I click players it shows there names but not actually them I cant get no one to respond to messages either ='(

There is no global text chat in this game. You have to use a radio.

 

Yes, it is bad for the game's social aspect. No, it probably won't change until modding support is added.

Either you weren't in the same location (server, town, etc.) OR it was a glitch. Choose a landmark that is clearly visible and unique (e.g. a lighthouse, a police station, etc.) for your meeting location.

we both went inside the lighthouse and climbed the ladder and we didn't see each other I assume there is only one lighthouse on the map ? ? ...I click on his name in the friends tab and joined him so I should of been in the same server right? I'm sure in a server with 50 people surely after 20mins of walking I would come across someone moving or making some kind of noise ?

 

I disabled my firewall to make sure that wasn't causing any problems and nothing changed....

The map is huge. Even if there are 50 players on the server you can run for hours before seeing them. It all depends on where you are. 

Go to Stary or Novy Sobor, Vybor and hang around in front of a police station. You will  see at least one other player..... and then die :-).

 

There are 5 (on quick count) lighthouses on the map. My advice is to figure out where you spawned by running to the nearest road sign. Then based on where buddy spawned find the midpoint between the two of you and then meet up.

 

It will be at least 20 minutes depending on how far apart you spawned. 

 

Keep a map handy at all times during play and move inland as soon as possible!

Also assume other players are hostile.

 

Good luck! It is a lot of fun, not easy... but fun.

thanks alot you lot for help i will just walk around a bit and hopefully bump into someone even if i get killed at least i know im with others...quick question how do i get a map up? when i select map its just a black screen ?

For the in-game map to work you have to find a map first. Maps spawn in houses and buildings. (http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Map)

Their are a few others : http://dayzmap.com/and http://www.izurvive.com/

 

Once you are familiar with the map, navigation will be easier.
