Connect3d 29 Posted September 19, 2015 I'd like to discuss tents and similar with you all. I think the tents, barrels and persistance is the best thing ever to happen to DayZ, I fucking love it. However. I feel like tents are almost pointless at this time. They're so easy to find. When you walk through a forest, there are very few places you can place one because the forest doesn't have much undergrowth, and on top of that, if you're further from something, the little undergrowth and bushes doesn't render. You need to find somewhere trees are close together to even hope for it to be hidden. That however is obvious, because anyone searching for your camp or tents also knows this, and will actively search places where trees are closer together. What's your opinion on the matter?
klesh 2423 Posted September 19, 2015 Let's talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be. Let's talk a b o u t tents.Let's talk about tents! I think barrels are the way to go for now. The only good places for any of the tents are in the closely-bunched pine clusters found in the woods. Anyone running past one should detour for 30 seconds to check them out for stashes. Torchia has mentioned a few times about the trees being redone, yet he stays tight-lipped on the topic. Perhaps in that redo the forest undergrowth will change, making tent placing slightly easier, and tent hunting slightly harder. Hard to tell. Once arial transport is in, all bets are off as it makes even the best-hidden camps easily spottable. For me, any tent/camp is strictly for surplus goods. Every time I log out I make sure I am carrying what I truly need to survive with upon re-logging. I log out expecting a camp to be gone the next time I log in, whether that is because of a wipe, a glitch, and alpher, or being raided. Having it be there when I get back is a bonus more than anything else.

Sometimes you can find a green, beaten up barrel and they are the best imo to hide. Place a few scattered across the map with basic supplies and you should be good to go once you respawn or in a pinch. Maybe if we get some tents in a subdued color or the possibility to camo spray paint (should take at least 2 full cans) a tent it could be more feasible. Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted September 20, 2015 Perhaps all this undergrowth is already implemented in the game, they just neglected to tell us they swapped all the zombies with vegans. I guess that explains where they all went; I haven't tried looting a Whole Foods lately.
