Winchesters....where art thou?

Recommended Posts

I can understand why people like the blaze but I still prefer the winchestor personally.  I don't snipe as much as I used to, and I'll freely admit my accuracy aint great any more.  As a result, I just find having to reload the blaze so often, too much time out of the sights.  Which leaves plenty of time for people to just run away.  I suppose if you're a crack shot you're getting that second shot off before they have time to react to the first.

After atleast 3 hours of gameplay, I have went through ALL the deerstands and deerhuts and some unlooted small villages in the northest strip of Chernarus

I haven't found any Winchester at all, and at the very end of my looting journey I did find to my surprise a hunting scope (they seem to only come with Prestine condition) in a DEER HUT not a deer stand.

I've been through somewhere between 50-100 deer stand and deer huts in my journey. I mostly found pants, binoculars, rangefinders, .22 mags and quivers. I've found 1 hunting backpack and a very few shotgun snaploaders. Came across my hunting scope in a deer hut near 4 deerstands above Nagornoe.

This sounds a lot like my own experience. I've been playing all last week for hours at a time. I've been all over the map, east and west, and haven't found a Winchester since .58 went stable. It's clearly a lot more rare then any weapon since the Mosin.

At the moment, I am carrying a wide variety of ammo but have yet to find weapons for all that ammo. Yes, this is a survival game. And yes, I am finding enough food to survive and keep running around the map. Besides the rarity of weapons, I am experiencing a lot of lag and frame drops in the past couple weeks. My settings are at their optimal. Some servers are worse then others. But, my experiences are worse then before when I had all the settings on HIGH.

I wish they'd bring back the infected/zombies. At least with the infected I could get some shooting practice in while traveling the map. I know the game is still under development, alpha, etc, but I used to have a lot more fun before. And even on full, high pop servers I'm having a hard time finding anyone to talk to. Except when I get shot at. At least then I know I'm not alone. LOL.

Looting is something I really tend to like, maybe even addicted to it. I could sit on DayZ 12 hours in 2 days only looting the living shit out of Chernarus without getting bored. Even when I do get bored, I go YOLO on a populated area and usually find my death somewhen in the beginning. But that doesn't make me too sad because that means looting all the way again!

I'm not bothered by getting off'd either. I, too, like the surviving and looting aspect of DayZ. Although recently the lag issues have been frustrating. The other day I was playing in DayZ's night time setting. It was cool. I was on a high pop server, and I was around Vybor. I knew I would see someone coming soon. Sure enough, a player ran right by me and took up position in a bush not too far from me. So, I sneaked up nearby him. And right when I was making my move I was hit with an immense amount of LAG making it impossible to defend myself. Why the lag suddenly spiked at that moment, I couldn't say. But...it got me killed. So for a few minutes I was upset. But, I let go of that, and started focusing on making my way North to gear up again.

For now, those occasional pvp experiences can be very visceral and exciting even if I die. But, when lag takes away my choices it can get on my nerves. Until base building and fishing become more common place in DayZ's development cycle, there's not a lot to do except loot and shoot. But, that's OK. DayZ is still fresh enough for me, that I'm happy to play through the development, and roll with the occasional hiccups and frustrations. Because most of the time, I do have fun on DayZ.

I'm the same... my friends are the COD-loving type where all they wanna do is grab a gun, go to a high-pop and kill/die immediately (I like pvping as well, don't get me wrong). I personally like running around alone looting, it's relaxing, especially now that there are no zombies around lol.

I die all the time...

...in Bloodborne. I never die in DayZ. I'm the best player.

This is known.
