Poor peformance + Memory Issues

Recommended Posts

Dayz has been running terrible on pc lately since the 0.58 update.

These are my PC Specs:

CPU: i5-3570K @4.00GHz

RAM: Corsair XMS 3 16gb 1600Mhz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 FTW Edition

MOBO: Asus P8Z77-V LE PLUS

Power Supply: Corsair TX650M

COOLING: Antec Kuhler h2o 620

STORAGE: Western Digital WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Western Digital WD Black 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD

OS: Windows 10 Pro

---------------------

Like I said, I am getting an average of 8-15 FPS, and maxing out at maybe 25

FPS. I don't have everything maxed out either. Attached, is a picture of an

error message I get after I close out of Dayz everytime. My FPS were NEVER this bad before the latest update, and I even had a few higher settings!

hey man, nothing new here. we are all in the same boat. please try some optimization videos, those things will help a lot. i got like 20 (outside city, and like 5-10 inside city FPS boost)

about the memory leak, that is there for all of us too, you close the game, you get one of this as Christmas present  :D

Thanks for the reply! Good to know about the error. Though bummed that I can BARELY run this game now and just all of a sudden! My settings are exactly the same, and it's almost unplayable!  :(

Nope, I had none at all. I tried it with none, and then with some. Though the only I had was -nosplash -noPause

I'm at a complete stump on why it is doing so poorly.

Did you changed the Config files? like scene complexity or max FPS ahead etc ... it helped me alot actually.

also note that some options in video take a lot of FPS and give a little beauty and affect your gameplay in almost no way. some settings when put on Low are more CPU defendant and normal or high GPU dependent. changing HDR quality to Very Low gave me literally 10 FPS boost.

that is a head scratcher, maybe try increasing the process priority? Reinstall drivers?

Yes, I have also changed the config files. Max frames ahead are both set to 1. Scene Complexity, I believe is at 500000.

HDR- Very Low

Alpha to Coverage-Disabled

Antialiasing- Disabled

Clouds-Very Low/Disabled

Post Processing- Disabled

Edge Smoothing- FXAA High

Terrain- Low

Shadow Quality- Very Low

Texture Detail- Very High

Texture Memory- Auto

Texture Filtering- Normal

Object Quality- Very High

Ambient Oclussion- Disabled

Previously, a lot of my settings were higher than what they are now, and it ran fine! Which is why I'm super confused!

Drivers have been reinstalled and I even reinstalled the game. Increasing the priority did not seem to change anything.

Gave that a whirl, thanks for the link. Though did not change much of my settings, than from what I had already.

maybe its all just a big coincidence and you have a piece of failing hardware?

I sure hope not. Temps have been and are fine, and every other game I play is perfectly fine as well. Just Miss Dayz is giving me issues performance wise.

I could try that, though I OC'd my CPU a while ago (When Dayz was running fine too), so I wouldn't think that was an issue. I could try it, though I feel like it would make it even worse than it is now.

Thanks for trying to help though! Much appreciated!

Edge Smoothing- FXAA High Go for Normal or lower either FXAA or SMAA

Shadow Quality- Very Low Go For Low instead, for me it means better performance

Texture Detail- Very High This is too much, go for normal or high

Texture Memory- Auto Set this one manually and equal to your VGA memory

Object Quality- Very High this is too much too, go for normal or High

Also check out if V-sync is enabled, disable it.

if nothing works, try lowering your render resolution.

and there is a program called DayZ Frame bood, download it and install it. it will make some changes in register which helps you with FPS, there is 0 chance of getting ban for this and also there is another register file which undo the changes.

Download a program CPU parking control and when you wanna play dayz, select high performance then make active.

this is pretty much it, if this things don't help you, nothing else will. i suggest run some Hardware test too, like monitoring your Heat.

hi,

strange behaviour, as for my friends & me performance is much better in this patch. we also didnt get the error message since .58 hit stable. it only appears for us if we play with -newui.

id encourage you to reset your config and not to use any of those proggies. you should gain better performance without those tweaks.

my recommendation:

get something like afterburner, which monitors your cpu and gpu load ingame. good to see where the bottleneck lies and then tweak the settings while knowing what u are doing.

set what vahidking is suggesting as a base, those are solid settings, and tweak by the results you get. especially texture detail and object quality are too high for your system, set both to normal. setting texture memory to 2048 often gives a solid fps boost.

if all that doesnt help, last think on my mind would be to check your nvidia drivers settings.

good luck

it's DayZ frame boost, typo. Link

how to use:

1. launch "LPmanager" As admin.

2. find-out which user dayz runs under, you can do that when dayz is running and open task manager.

3. type the user name, exactly how it is with all capitals and spaces etc. in the box in front of Privilege key.

4. press privilege then restart your PC.

5. then run "DayZ Frame Boost On" for turn it on and "DayZ frame boost Off" for turn it off.

I am exactly the same! I've went from 40-60 in fields and 15-30 in towns/cities to 10 in fields and I dare not go anywhere near a town... For me, it has been since the .58 Loot Hotfix, before that I was running it fine - no problems, and like you no other game in my library is affected.

Edit: Loaded up tonight, ran through a field for 5-10mins at like 7fps then out of nowhere shot up to 60. Didn't make any changes, just seemed to fix itself.

Sounds like culling issues still at large.  I get poor performance all around, but have noticed that my frames are best when I'm out away from any structures.  Once a town comes into my network bubble, I get a major drop in frames  Try running along the debug plains, just barely in sight of the treeline; this will give you your true max FPS.  Bring a friend, make a day of it, tweak your settings in a controlled environment.

I've noticed also, and a friend can confirm, that this issue seems (on our server, anyway) to only occur whenever we near or enter Novaya Petrovka. Cherno? 15-30 no problem. Same with Novo. I don't understand why Novaya Petrovka is causing us such an issue.
