3D printed the sign you see when you enter Elektro

Recommended Posts

The print is done! However I ran into an issue I figured I would have when I created the 3D model. The small diameter supports holding up the upper row of letters is too small and fragile, so some of my letters broke off while removing the SLA support structure. No biggie as I can just super glue them back on but still, it sucks as I was hoping for an authentic model based off the game. In order to not have this issue I could just remove the small diameters letter supports and move the letters down until they touch the lower row of letters, like Ivan did in his model, but I wanted as close to authentic as I could.

Oh well, here is the 3D print just after the IPA bath. No sanding and any real post process cleanup has been done yet, so ignore the flakes and rough areas until I clean it up later ;)

I really want a 3D printer. I can't wait until they become affordable for someone like myself. I would never order replacement parts for anything not metal again! Also, I had an idea for using a 3D printer and an Arduino to make a Claptrap.

This may motivate me to print some of the more known symbols of chernarus...

Cold, check out Folger Tech 3d printers. Got mine for around $260. It prints pretty decent quality with minimal tweaking. But you have to build it.
