Ark has defecating. DayZ should too!

So, another survival game has defecating: tha game Ark. Ark has dinosaurs, which means that it is by far not as realistic as DayZ, yet it comes with the need to defecate.

 

You may think this sounds ridiculous, but I beg to differ. There are several reasons for this:

 

1. You may leave tracks in form of feces, which other people could use to track you, or you could use it as a trap. One could even stick their hand in it to feel the temperature and how long it has been since the player defecated at the location. Dig you hand in -> "The feces feel warm to touch" -> Could very well be a trap -> You're dead

 

2. Could be used as plant nutrition.

 

3. If you're absolutely starving, and really MUST eat something NOW, eating your own feces could be an emergency solution, or if you are several players you could defecate into each others mouths and eat it. This of course should come with a 95% chance of contracting a disease, but if you manage to stay alive long enough to find a cure and real food, it clearly serves its purpose.

 

4. If you are dehydrated you could drink your own urine as an emergency solution, or you could pee into each others mouths if you are several characters playing together.

 

5. You could take prisoners, put handcuffs on them and then defecate and/or urinate on the, as the ultimate psycho/degrading action.

 

6. If you want to play as a real psycho, you could be naked and smear feces all over your body. Just imagine someone naked and covered in feces running towards you with an axe. Truly horrifying!

 

7. You would have to find a safe place to defecate, and you would be very vulnerable while doing to. This makes for strategic defecating. Imagine being caught off guard in such a sensitive situation!

 

Just imagine the possibilities!

Also, defecation was thought about in the start of development and almost caused another Cangate Incident.

 

Im all for it others not so much.

 

At this time there are no current plans to include it into the SA.

Awhile back during the days of the mod, the dev team (at the time - for the most part completely different to who's there now) released a big update to the 'official' vanilla version of the mod that included a bunch of new food items - many of them paying homages to certain developers or moderators who helped out and quite a lot of inside jokes. Anyway, the update released and a large portion of the community hated it for various reasons ("muh immersionz!") and the resulting backlash was so bad that the content was removed. You can still find a lot of that stuff in various community made versions, but it's not in the vanilla mod AFAIK.

 

I wouldn't really say it was "almost" as bad as that because I'm almost certain Cangate was a major influence in the devs eventually abandoning the subreddit for a time, but every time defecation was suggested there were very mixed feelings about it (a lot of people felt strongly against it.)

 

To me it's pretty inconsequential - I don't think there's much to gain from such a system but I don't really have a problem with it either. However, the way ARK does it isn't very realistic and I'm 100% sure if they did add it there would be a lot of people upset, but that's just me.

Oh, you must be new here, your suggestion is as old, if not older than cangate and your reasoning is as valid as was those that created the cangate scandal.
