fing24 36 Posted August 6, 2015 Ok so guns jamming has been suggested before. But a few builds ago weapons where getting ruined after 100 rounds were fired through them so you had to use the cleaning kits to stop this. So instead of guns going from pristen down to ruined why not stages of clean to very dirty. So at very dirty your gun jams pretty constantly, any weapon cleaner than that has less of a chance of jamming, but at some point will. The only reason I say this is in real life guns in general don't get ruined. I'm not saying things on guns don't break thus making them useless, but it is not a common occurrence, dirty weapons jamming is. This would make the cleaning kits more useful and realistic. Think some one might come up to kos you and his weapon is dirty and it goes click and nothing happens you laugh and shoot him or yours goes click to and then its a knife fight lol. Any way it would make cleaning your weapon very important as it is in real life. This should be on automatics I know revolvers and bolt actions are a lot less prone to this. P.S the devs could add a very small percent chance that when firing your gun something does break thus making it useless/ ruined. And that should be a very very very small chance.

rybec 339 Posted August 6, 2015 I'm not very enthusiastic about the idea of a small % chance of a catastrophic failure every time I shoot. The cleaning though I'm all for. If you don't maintain a firearm well, it's going to fail on you. Sounds great.
OnionOfShame 138 Posted August 6, 2015 It's always seemed to me that the quality status is actually an indicator of cleanliness when it comes to firearms. Yes, emptying a few drum mags from your AKM will cause undesirable substances to build up in and on the gun, but you'll have to fire a lot more than that to straight up ruin a gun. And even then, you could find the part or two that broke and replace them, rather than having to find another entire gun. I think that damaged and badly damaged should have a small chance (higher for badly) to jam like you said, but ruining should be near impossible to achieve unless you use one gun frequently for ~20 hours (varies by gun of course), and then you should be able to find replacement internal parts rather than having to toss the entire gun. Mullraugh 1151 Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) M4's jam more than AK's and require more maintenance. Justa heads up to those people out there who spend hours upon hours trying to find the thing. Edited August 6, 2015 by mullraugh

ZomboWTF 527 Posted August 7, 2015 M4's jam more than AK's and require more maintenance. Justa heads up to those people out there who spend hours upon hours trying to find the thing. the AK family is one of the most reliable guns out there, guess SKS would count towards that, too Aug, and M4 would probably be on the unreliable side, MP5 etc. i really have no idea 100 rounds to ruined sounds way to harsh though... Syphonz 64 Posted August 10, 2015 I could see something like weapon maintenance. EG: Using lubricants (get your head out of the gutter people :P ) to clean the gun, etc etc.
xSkeletalx 4 Posted August 11, 2015 I haven't had a gun break yet, but I agree with most of this. I like the jamming idea, and the increased rate the dirtier the gun is. Maybe things like holding the gun in hand while crawling around on the ground outside, through sand, or in water could deplete it's cleanliness faster.I think besides the gun cleaning kit, there should be other ways to clean it, such as lubricants and a rag.Having a gun break altogether, even if it's an extremely small chance, doesn't really seem like a good idea. I think guns should be able to be ruined by being shot/axed/caught in an explosion, though.
schwaBAM 200 Posted August 14, 2015 I love this idea. It would definitely create some unique situations as well.

Beizs 186 Posted August 15, 2015 Maybe with the in depth vehicle repair system, they can just port the core mechanics over to the guns and have it far more realistic in just about every regard. Definitely could use some genuine maintenance mechanics which would help with immersion, add some realism to the firefights and balance out the guns a bit better.
