well, the "Z" came back to DayZ, only, you know, bugged and a whole f*cking lot of Z, so people cried it was to hard, and the devs listened to the wanna-be alpha testers and removed them again

Also i think that thats not a spawned horde, someone must have gathered a few zombies along the way thus creating a horde.

Your quotes contain no promises. Aside from mentioning the increase we performed on that build, which if you keep apprised with the Status Reports you'll know have been temporarily decreased so we can resolve issues with the AI consuming server resources in excess of their budget.

imo this is how it should be, however, it also put a lot of stress on the servers, and they were bugged

(chain aggro, aggro one zombie, the zombie next to it that doesn't even see you aggros, too,

and there was no limit to how many steps of additional aggro was there, one shot in cherno and you had about 100 Zs chasing you down)

spawning was bugged as well, so they don't respawn and don't spawn as much afaik right now

I hated how you'd kill a z and then another one would spawn right on u

With the bugs ect, it is understandable. But thinking about it, Zombies reacting more agressive on shots fired, would solve the KOS problem.

no it doesn't never did, never will

the only thing it solves is the brainless gearing-up-sprinting going on, and server-hopping partially, if twenty zombies are following you and you fail to close a door behind you while looting a house = dead, if you are logging in and out in an area where there are tons of zombies = dead

fights in citys will be more interesting though, for example zombie aggro lets you detect players that aren't as stealthy easier, and gives a decent problem for those who start firing, yet it won't protect you from being sniped by a guy who is on top of a roof in cherno, or on sniper hill

My opinion is, that those snipey shots should draw agroo aswel!! (or atleast heavy Weapon Flash) When that happens, dayZ will finally become a different game, attracting truly different players.

The current problem is the shooter legacy of Arma into DayZ and the corresponding player base. But how to "balance" that, that's a good challenge! Cries will occur for sure!

Is Amra Mk2, Squadplay feasible in the DayZ endgame? to make it succeed as a survival/zombie game? In what level does that shallow murder perspective interfere with the idealistic Core Essence or Brand Essence of survival in a apocalyptic word of DayZ?

That is the Core Question that keeps popping up. I am really curious how the Dev's (could) have answered that question for themselves?

They do, however zombies can't climb ladders in Standalone (imo they shouldn't be able to, just as they can't open doors) and can't open doors, so sniping from a secure position like a roof that only has access to via ladder or a closed door, you can snipe all you like

also, even zombies can't accurately say where a shot comes from when it's 800 meters away, they should still need to draw aggro from the weapon flash or normal sight, or else sniping would become even harder as it is, and it's not easy to start with, but sure, they should start looking into the direction of shots or even start to walk or run into the direction, that would motivate snipers to place their shots carefully

first shot -> zombie looks into the direction if he is outside direct hearing aggro range

second shot -> zombie sees muzzleflash, runs to it and munches on delicious sniper meat :3

zombie stops looking into a certain direction after a few seconds

I am sure we will see more and more AI entities once they can get them working without being a huge drain upon server resources.  That is the real problem with them right now, when they added the hordes on a test server recently it ran so much worse then the other EXP servers that they brought it down in about a day.  Just give them time and things will get sorted out.

If 1,200 is considered a lot I will cry. They're hoping to do three times as many, so am I, hope that doesn't change.

Not having zombies in DayZ sucks!!! First week of .55 was awesome, maybe best time I had in DayZ. I killed maybe 15-20 but I spent most of my time crawling and hiding. Food was rare on coast, gear was random (outhouses). Ill play only experimental until zeds get back in game.

I hope they can climb ladders, and open doors (not instantly after you, maybe after 20-30 bangs on doors).

I liked that video Zombo posted. Even zeds were glitchy, buggy and overall stupid, I like how they punish wrong decision (like entering wrong house).

Have you played at all this year? The zombies have improved a hell of a lot. Their numbers will presumably be increased once performance allows

if you like the feeling of barricading from massive zombie hordes, maybe you should check out project zomboid, i played it some time ago though, no idea if it's still under development, abandoned or something completely else now ;)

it's also an isometric top down view, a plus for everyone who loved the fallout franchise before being 3d ^^

I would try it, but I dont have much time for playing. I dont know how multiplayer looks like. We dont need much baricading, maybe posibility to stuck something to doors to buy time to bandage, reload weapons and maybe eat or drink.
