Rule #2 - never assume you are alone

Recommended Posts

Dayz SA experimental v 0.58. Rule #1 in DAYZ is to not get attached to your gear. #2 is probably to never assume you are alone and #3 should probably be to never go AFK, especially not on a busy server and in a high traffic area.

I saw this player looting the tent camp west of Myshkino and it was clear to me he had at least two weapons, probably automatic, the weapon in his hands is not rendered but you can see he is holding one. With only a Mosin and a CR75 with one mag myself I did not want to chance to confront him face to face. After a while observing him I could see him standing still behind the window of the shed and I could not resist the temptation to ambush him. After flanking the shed there was still no activity so I decided to shoot and rob him.

I admit it's not the most heroic types of kills but hey, Dayz is a dog eat dog game and I really wanted that high capacity vest and his weapon :) Note that I can not feel his pulse. After looting I hid his body and dumped the weapons in some bushes about 50 yards away.
With hindsight I could have probably just robbed him and let him live but if he would have "awakened" there is a good chance I would have died myself.

Would've been great to see you tie him up.  If he had just logged out when entering the shed (instead of stepping away), he prolly would still be alive because of how long it took you to get there.

Yeah, the whole situation was about 17 minutes long, 10 of which he was just standing in the shed. He should have at least not stand in front of the window and also have lied down, good chance I would have assumed he left the shed and I lost him because while waiting I also kept scanning the tent camp for other players so didn't observe the shed all the time. Would I have assumed he was gone I would have looted the camp and not go after his stuff.

Edit: never thought about tying him up, damn, missed chance. Will remember that for next time :) Best of both worlds, I get to rob all his stuff and he gets to live. I am not that experienced at PVP because I usually avoid it.

You are right, like I said I am not that used to PVP and just wanted to eliminate the potential threat to get to his goodies ;)
