Backpack Wraps

Recommended Posts

Ok, so we all love backpacks on DayZ. We all hopefully want to get the Mountain Backpack, 35 slots of pure epicness, but it comes with a problem, the backpack is the most obvious item in the world. As soon as you wear this, you can be seen miles away. Sure, you can try going prone, but then all people will see is a huge red/green/etc. blob.

My  suggestion is very much like the ghillie gun wraps and suits. You would be able to craft a wrap for any backpack, but the larger the backpack, the higher the material cost. Now, as one of my friends said, because of the carrying capacity it should have a downside, but I think if a player makes the trip to a fishing village and specifically goes around collecting burlap strips they have earned the ability to make their backpack camouflaged. So when you finally assault the airbase in the middle of the night, you can blend in more to the surroundings. I also think that you should be able to roll up the netting and attach it to the backpack, rather than having to place the roll in the backpack, much like a sleeping bag or roll mat.

It's not a bad idea bit tbh I don't want a mountain backpack at all :)

I don't really need the room (provided I have at least cargo pants and a hunting jacket or better) and a form of vest.

It makes for a way to bulky profile, even if the color would be camouflaged. I also don't like you can hardly look over your shoulder when in 1pp.

I prefer the improvised backpack, if possible out of boar leather.

I will take a mountain backpack when I am a new spawn because at that stage you collect a lot of stuff and only later you start to make more balanced gear.

Personally I don't think it should be I'm game. The point of the Mountain Backpack is that it's a tradeoff. It has the greatest storage capacity, but sticks out like a sore thumb. That's why people go for the Hunting Backpack instead, they value the improved camouflage over a few more slots.

It does sound helpful, but like said above, you shouldn't be able to have it all. It should be a tradeoff, either you want all that space for whatever you want to hold, or you can blend in more. I wouldn't want people running around with all that space and to be camouflaged. Even though you can do this in reality, their needs to be some balance.

i always use the courier bag the mountain pack is too big and though it can carry a kitchen sink lol i like to travel light and it makes the game harder for me having to choose what to take with such limited space. though if you get a good vest you can still carry quite a bit without the target on your back so to speak. and i like your idea OP and additional packs would be nice the more the merrier.

I wouldn't mind these too much, provided their intent isn't *just* camouflage, so multiple bright colors are needed as well. I hardly ever pick up mountain backpacks because they're not waterproof, so for me these wraps would be mostly to protect my gear, not for camo purposes.

I figure that if people would spot me it wouldn't matter much what kind of backpack I have on. I've been killed by guys in pink raincoats that I never saw coming, and I've picked off guys in full camo creeping through bushes from 2-300 yards out. It's the movement that gives you away 90% of the time in my experience, not the color of your gear.
