Haven't been playing for a year..have few general questions.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Been off the game for almost a year so i have lots of questions...i see game is still unplayable in my opinion (what i watched on yt) that is why i patiently wait for a release.

yes i used google to answer most of my Q but i want some second opinions and answers on some...so here it goes;

Ive heard talks about new engine back when i still played so i was wondering what is up with that now after so much time? Will that new engine see light of day in DayZ SA or is it all just a fantasy? And what will we get from this new engine? Better graphic? Better physics? (im not a smart man when it comes to game engines :P)

Ive heard Dean isnt anymore involved in development of DayZ SA, is that bad, good or it doesn't play a roll at all?And why did he leave in the first place, or im wrong and he is still here?

Are we gonna see some new maps in future? Or is this just too much too speculate right now? ...You know, ive been playing mod for 2 years before SA came out and Chernarus just feels old to me.

And, hehehe one last thing, sorry if i trouble someone, will private servers be hmm how should i say, unique/customizable , in a way harder or easier and im not just talking about 1st or 3rd person, but less loot, more loot...less zeds, more zeds....and stuff like that.

U see i like it to be as hard as it can, would like to die of hunger once in a while....

My dream is to play dayz day to day just struggling to find food and water..you know like a real survival simulation, disinfecting water, fighting diseases, have less bullets than zeds in town and so on....or is it too much to expect?

Thank you .

1. Engine will come sometime soon. i cant tell when exactly, but last thing i read was soon (so maybe like 0.61 or so)

the new engine will contain some new scripting and a new renderer, which will improve old arma2 to dx11(maybe even 12 soem time) and therefore improve the performance significantly

2. Dean Hall went back to his homecountry new zealand

i can't tell if thats a good thing, but since i think the devs are doing some good work its not a bad thing

3. i read that maybe Namalsk might come, but don't expect it anytime soon, or it to be official

the current map will be reworked over time, many new placed have been added and some old towns have been reworked

4. i dont know, but expect it to become harder on official servers once the central loot economy and persistence work corectly

1)  The new engine is already here.  It's called Enfusion (I think) now.  They're changing out modules of the engine as they go/add stuff.

2)  Dean did leave to start his own game studio (Ion I think is his new game, made some buzz at E3).  At this point I don't think it'll affect development either negatively or positively (I might be wrong on that part, sounds like Dean didn't really plan for it to go beyond just a mod, so maybe someone/company with a bit more ambition might make a difference).

3)  Modding will make other maps available.  They've said in the past they would like to make at least one more map (and Urban/Western map) sometime after release.  I also heard that they're working with the guy who did Nalamlisk to get it 'ported' over for when they do allow modding.

4)  Not entirely sure but I think that's somewhat in the direction they want to go with private servers.

Didn't know Dean started another game, and I just looked it up, watched the trailer, and wow, it looks amazing. I've always been into NASA and space and the whole 9 yards, even have a ton of stuff "collected", from tile pieces of shuttles to signed photos of shuttle crew. You name it, and I might darn have it. xD
